The all-new MX-5 is propelled by a 2.0 Skyactiv engine. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual gearbox or six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. Power output is 158hp and 200Nm of torque.
Dimension-wise, the freshly launched roadster is actually 4.1 inches shorter and 100kg than its predecessor. It sits on 17-inches, multi-spoke gun metallic finish rims wrapped on R17 rubbers.
If you have seen the right-hand drive unit displayed at the 2015 Manila International Motorshow last summer, well, it’s pretty much the same. Of course, who wouldn’t notice the seven-inch touch screen monitor similar with the current Mazda3. For music nuts, the MX-5 with automatic transmission is equipped with a nine-speaker, Bose audio system.
Other notable standard features include engine start stop button, i-Stop, i-Eloop, stability control, and LED headlights.
The all-new Mazda MX-5 is manufactured at the Ujina plant in Hiroshima. As for the pricing, the MX-5 with the manual tranny is priced at P 1.680M, while the automatic variant costs P1.860M. It will be available in four shades: Soul Red, Ceramic, Crystal White Pearl, and Jet Black. The buyers of the automatic gearbox variant can opt for beige or black leather seats, while manual transmission variant has black fabric.
