Last call for entries for 2010 - 2011 Bayani ng Kalsada

bnk_logoGoodyear Philippines’ Bayani ng Kalsada (BNK) program is approaching its last stretch as it announces the deadline for nominations on May 15, 2011. Bayani ng Kalsada is a nationwide search for Filipino drivers who have exhibited heroic acts of courage, sacrifice and extraordinary selflessness in keeping others safe on the road.
In the 2010 - 2011 search, several individuals have been found to step out of their comfort zone when faced with an opportunity to perform a good deed. No politics, no recognition, no reward money; just a selfless act of kindness.
Now in its fifth consecutive year, BNK hopes to inspire Filipino drivers, by way of example, to become more responsible motorists and help make Philippine roads safer.
"Our commitment to highway safety is paramount. More than a popularity contest, BNK is a concrete manifestation of what road safety is all about - going beyond our personal levels of comfort and becoming more aware of others who are on the road with us. This program honors drivers who have performed outstanding acts of humanitarianism," said Goodyear Philippines Marketing Director, Ernest Estrera.
While a dedicated search committee continues to actively look out for road heroes all over the country, the public is encouraged to nominate their own road heroes. Nominations may be sent by texting BNK to 0921-7666166 (Smart) or 0915-8995070 (Globe). Another way to nominate is log on to where one can nominate directly on the page, or by filling up printed nomination forms available at all Goodyear Autocare, Servitek, and Tyre Pro outlets. All printed forms can be submitted to the Goodyear outlets, faxed to 9129275 or mailed to Online Events at 148 ATC Center, Katipunan Avenue, St. Ignatius Quezon City.
BNK 2010 - 2011 will honor five (5) winners: one each from four regions - Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and National Capital Region, and an overall national champion. Each regional winner will receive a cash prize of P30,000 while the overall champion will receive P50,000
Each nomination will undergo a thorough screening process and will be judged by a prestigious panel of judges which includes transportation officials, media and sponsor representatives, and Goodyear executives. This year’s program is being done in cooperation with the Land Transportation Office (LTO), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Manila Bulletin, Pilipino Star Ngayon, Abante, Centro Negosyo, Standard Insurance, Cebuana Lhuillier, LBC and Safety Organization of the Philippines, Inc. (SOPI).
