Boasting Big: Chevrolet shows off their stuff

It seems like Chevrolet has been on a winning streak lately, and we’re not just talking about the Cruze being crowned the Philippines’ Car of the Year 2010 - 2011. The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI), Chevrolet’s exclusive distributor in the Philippines, took the opportunity to make a few gems shine during the 7th Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) last April 7 to 10, 2011 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

Testing the Waters
Listening to the public’s plea, the new diesel variant of the Cruze was one of the stars that twinkled at the Chevrolet show space during MIAS. “The Cruze has been selling well here in the Philippines and we expect the new Diesel Cruze to be just as popular. It will have everything that customers have been telling us they want…” announced Martin Apfel, General Motors President for South East Asia Operations.
The Cruze diesel 2.0L is powered by a 4-cylinder VCDi SOHC Diesel Turbo engine that can take you from zero to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds, mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Of course, this much power comes along with that much safety. This roaring powerhouse comes equipped with 4-wheel disc brakes, anti-lock brake system (ABS), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), electronic traction control (ETC), and automatic climate control as a standard. To top it all off, it comes fitted with extra goodies like rain-sensing wipers, leather seats, and 17-inch alloy wheels just to name a few.

The Cruze’s diesel variant comes at a cheque-friendly P1,228,888. However, it should be noted that only a handful of these models will be brought to the country for now. TCCCI is simply driving this Chevy to the levee to see if the levee is dry. More units will be brought in depending on the demands of the market.
Love this Chevy!
For a more audio-visual treat, Chevy’s new video was premiered at MIAS, adding plenty to the exciting atmosphere. Entitled "Love This Chevy!" the new TVC stars Chevrolet ambassador Ryan Agoncillio and depicts exactly what the title says: people sharing their love for the auto brand. Re-live the moment; here’s the “Love This Chevy!” for your enjoyment.
Two to Tease
For some icing on the cake, TCCCI also presented two new members of the Chevrolet family: the Traverse and the Orlando, two great SUV’s to watch out for. Boasting its super spacious cabin, Chevrolet claims the Traverse will have “the most hassle-free 3rd row in history.” That feature alone is enough to put us on the edge of our seats in anticipation.

The Orlando, on the other hand, is reared towards being the perfect family car. This eight-seater even comes with child safety equipment, so you know the little tykes would be safe in this big, spacious SUV. A sneak peek beneath the hood reveals 1.8L DOHC ECOTEC DCVVT, which means fuel efficiency - a welcome feature for the family’s budget.

We can’t wait until these two hit the local dealerships soon! The future looks bright and busy for Chevrolet Philippines.
