There were some welcome additions on the grid during the weekend. This included Willie Torres in GT 300 and Joey Perry in GT 200 who returned to the series after missing Round 1. Meanwhile, track-day veteran NR Joaquin stepped up to professional motorsports with an entry in GT 150. However, Veli-Matti Kaikkonen and Bong Perez failed to show up. This summed the total number of competitors to 11.

In qualifying, Paolo Mantolino set the fastest lap of 2m 12.077s in his Yokohama AD050-shod GT 200 Ethanworx Honda Civic FD. This allowed him to start from pole in the 9-lap Sprint Race – a lead he defended against a hard-charging Richmon Dela Rosa in the Honda Civic Del Sol. The pair would then cross the finish line with a mere 0.205s gap with Mantolino in 1st and Dela Rosa in 2nd. Walter Zamora would claim 3rd in GT 200, finishing almost a lap behind.

It was also a fierce battle in GT 150 between Team SM Bonus driver Dindo De Jesus and Patrick Dela Rosa. Both driving Honda Civic EK hatchbacks, the pair ended the race with De Jesus taking 1st in class, followed by Patrick Dela Rosa in 2nd, and fellow SM Bonus competitor NR Joaquin in 3rd.

Ivan Diaz finished 1st in GT 100 with a mere 0.400s lead over Edwin Rodriguez in the Mazda 2 SKYACTIV race car. The rain-soaked track proved to be an advantage for the mighty Mazda 2, allowing Rodriguez to put up a strong fight against Diaz' Honda Civic.

Unfortunately for Joey Pery, his Honda Integra Type R aquaplaned and crashed hard into the barriers, ending his race weekend premateurly.

The afternoon's 15-Lap GT Race would start dry, but was quickly drenched by the rain several laps in. Mantolino was once again leading the pack, but the reigning GT 200 champion slipped in the trecherous conditions and ended up in the wall. This allowed Richmon Dela Rosa to inherit the race lead and claim 1st place. Walter Zamora took 2nd place, while Mantolino was classified 3rd in class for finishing more than 50% of the race.

GT 150 was an odd race for Dindo De Jesus who was the lone finisher despite 2-off track moments. That's because his Honda Civic would later fail the dyno test, which excluded him from the final results. This gave the class win to Patrick Dela Rosa followed by NR Joaquin despite only finishing 8 laps.

Ivan Diaz once again found himself hounded by Edwin Rodriguez' Mazda2 SKYACTIV race car. But Diaz managed to defend his position to finish 1st in GT 100, followed by Rodriguez in 2nd, and Joginder “King” Sin in 3rd.

As the lone GT 300 driver, Willie Torres in the Mitsubishi Evolution VIII claimed top spot in class for both races.

In the Philminiracers Classic Mini, the Open Pro Class Final was won by Rodney Caballero, followed by Arvin Gervacio in 2nd, and Borgy Zoleta in 3rd. Meanwhile, the VW Beetles of Raffy Locson, Armand Hipolito, and Dexter Daquigan fought for the lead in the Classic Aspirated Cup. The trio would eventually finish the Final Race in that order.

The top 3 finishers in the Sparco Cup Bracket Race were Brian Alonzo, Joey Howard, and Jonnie Pineda. But the real action was in the new Grid Race which was won by Emerson Ocampo, Dominique Bon, and Brian Alonzo once again.

Round 3 of the 2015 Yokohama Philippine GT Championship will be held on July 25/26 at the Batangas Racing Circuit. It's sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP), sponsored by Yokohama Tires Sales Philippines, Inc., Sparco, and Aguila Auto Glass with support from the offical dyno provider, Speedlab.
