Thomas Oh, Senior Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer for Kia Motors Corporation, commented: “The immense and sustained popularity of the Kia Rio shows that our designers and global engineering and development teams got most things ‘right’ when we launched the fourth-generation of our B-segment best-seller in 2011. The new Rio retains the core attributes that have consistently proved so popular with owners around the world, and the visual makeover is sure to sustain its appeal further still.”

A fresh exterior look
Under the direction of Peter Schreyer, President and Chief Design Officer of Kia Motors Corporation and Hyundai Motor Group, the Rio design team in Korea has updated the Rio’s face with a number of small modifications. The brand’s hallmark ‘tiger-nose grille’ is refreshed with a new geometric lattice pattern, while a newly designed front bumper features lower, wider air intakes, and integrated fog lights with chrome trim highlights.

Three new alloy wheel designs (15- and 17-inch) and a revised rear bumper complete the exterior makeover and lend an air of greater sophistication and dynamism. In addition, a new paint finish (Digital Yellow) has been added to the color line-up.

Upgraded cabin with new customization options
The Rio’s cabin is brightened by the addition of chrome accents around the four dashboard air-vents, and the fitting of a newly-designed center-stack around the audio system for greater ease of use and a classier appearance. The cabin itself can be specified with three colors – single-tone black, or two-tone black and brown or black and desert grey.

A clear, modern new look and chrome highlights bring a boost to the already-stylish dashboard. With the new dashboard fascia panel, the standard audio systems have also received a visual upgrade to ensure greater clarity and ease-of-use on the move.

Economical engine and transmissions
The enhanced Rio will be offered with 1.4L in-line gasoline engine, running on 107 ps and 14 kg m of torque and six-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmissions.
