The National Association of Filipino Off-roaders (NASFOR) recently recognized the performance of outstanding drivers of the NASFOR Extreme Challenge 2014 edition during the Golden Wheel Awards held in SM Aura last March 14, 2015.Â

2014 was a banner year for the competition because it grew not only in terms of the number of drivers and teams who participated, the competition itself was expanded to 16 legs to accommodate the growing interest from local municipalities whose local officials are interested in bringing the competition to their backyard - knowing that such unique event will attract both local and foreign visitors alike.

To ensure that proper credit were given to everyone involved in this amazing growth in popularity, NASFOR recognized not only the DRIVER Of The YEAR, but the top three drivers, top teams, and the top constructors from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao as well.Â

"This will give competitors additional motivation to do well as they have a chance to be recognized as the top driver of their region," shares NASFOR president Ramon Toong. Now on his second term, Toong personally handed out the trophies to the winners during the awards night.

The top three drivers for Luzon for the 2014 NASFOR Extreme Challenge were Edison Dungca of the Kapampangan Racing Team followed by Red Diwa of Isabela Extreme with Noel Bartolome Jr. of the Land Cruiser Club of the Philippines taking home the third spot. For the Visayas, top honor goes to Jerry Lanoy followed by Pat de la Pena and Danny Calape respectively. For Mindanao, Michael Cerin was top driver followed by Jiggy Rodriguez and Tim Tom Gempesaw.

For the top teams from Luzon, the Kapampangan Racing Team took home the top award followed by Isabela Extreme with the Land Cruiser Club coming in third. For the Visayas, it was a showdown between Javier Off-road and Ormoc 4Wheelers with the latter bagging the top spot.

For Mindanao, 4Wheelers Davao bagged the top award followed by Eagle Off-Roaders Davao with Dipolog Unlimited rounding off the top three.

The Kapampangan Racing Team were declared the Team Champion of the Year.

For the Contructors' Title, top honor went to Dungca's Trading followed by A&B Yuboco FAB Works with 2nd runner honors going to Mikee's 4x4 Shop.

Finally, Edison Dungca, the reigning Driver of the Year once again took home the coveted award after a consistent performance all season long.

The NASFOR Extreme Challenge 2014 was organized by NASFOR and was supported by Maxxis tires, TOPTUL, Racetech Racing suspensions, Mobil 1 and 199 Off-Roadhouse to whom specials awards were given for their support.Â
