MANILA, Philippines (03 March 2015) – The quarter-mile battles return to the strip of the Batangas Racing Circuit (BRC) this March 7 as the National Drag Racing Championship (NDRC) Southern Series hosts its 2nd leg of the 2015 season.

Sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP), all eyes will once again be on Jonathan Tiu and his JCT-Blanche Nissan GT-R. That's because Tiu is expected to make a strong comeback after missing out on the Quick 8 victory during the last race at the Clark International Speedway due to mechanical issues. Hopefully, his machine will be fixed by the race weekend.

The reigning champion, however, will have to face stiff competition in the Quick 8 and Pro Class. Challengers will come in all shapes and sizes such as the Hondas of TJ Pangilinan of Team CabSpeed, Aaron Lao of MRD Performance, Jackson Go of H3 Autoworks, and Jonathan Young also from JCT-Blanche. There are also the Mitsubishis of Allan Ararao and Vanni Garcia of W-Autosport who'll vie for the overall win.

Other fast drivers who might also pull a surprise are the Manalo Brothers of RSL Motorsports and Arvin Millet of TEMZ Automart.

Drivers from Laguna, Cavite, Quezon, and the Bicol region are expected defend their home track, while some will come from as far as Metro Manila and Pampanga. All in all, the number of drag racers could reach in the hundreds, competing in the HotStreet, Sportsman, Expert, and Pro Classes.

Registration starts at 6:30 AM followed by the practice runs at 7:00 AM. The qualifiers will then promptly begin at 9:00 AM and competition at 11:00 AM.

Entry fee is P2,000 per driver, plus a P300 day license from AAP and P400 for insurance. Pro Class drivers, however, must secure an AAP National Competition License to join.

The 2015 National Drag Racing Championship is comprised of a four-round Northern and four-round Southern Series that is hosted at the Clark International Speedway (CIS) and Batangas Racing Circuit (BRC), respectively. It is sanctioned by the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) and sponsored by M&H Tires, Sparco, GT Radial, and Aguila Auto Glass.
