We hate to burst your bubble, but your newly-bought pride and joy (that has yet to be issued number plates) is not exempted from number coding. The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) had just issued a reminder to all motorists that the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP), otherwise known as the number coding scheme, does cover brand new vehicles without license plates. In this case, the last digit on the conduction sticker will be followed.

MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino signed Memorandum Circular Number 06 Series of 2013 which details the implementation guidelines of the UVVRP for new vehicles without license plates. It will be effective 15 days after publication which we estimated to be somewhere in mid-April.

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to look younger and fresher, than to age like wine. Take it from the French and their quest for aesthetics and romanticism. It’s no surprise that the ‘Spirit of the Snob Appeal’ is translated to their cars as well. At the recently-concluded 2013 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), Eurobrands Distributor Inc (EDI), the official distributor of Peugeot in the Philippines, unveiled their newly refreshed sports coupe, the RCZ.

2013crv 7seater2
Ever since its 3rd generation model, the CR-V has been strictly a 5-seat crossover. They've tossed out the 3rd row seating found in the first two models in favor of more luggage space. But Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) was reminded that there are some families out there with extra members that want to go along for the ride too. So, starting this April 2013, the Japan-made 2.0 LX and 2.4 EX variants will now come with a Detachable 3rd Row Seat accessory at no extra cost.

Honda claims that the new 3rd row seat is lightweight, making it easy to attach or detach depending on the load requirement. It can even fold flat in case you're too lazy to take it out.

mazda6 main
This is the car we've all been waiting for. Well, at least we at Kotse.com have. Why? Because it's the prettiest and most well-engineered midsize sedan we've seen in a long while, not only from Mazda, but from everyone else. The all-new 2013 Mazda 6 is the 3rd generation of the series Mazda started in 2002. Not only is it packed with SKYACTIV technology nose to tail, it also promises a larger interior space and better fuel economy than ever before.

The latest generation all-new Mazda 6 was recently launched at the 2013 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). Berjaya Auto Philippines, Mazda's new local distributor, even gave us a quick preview at the newly-opened Mazda Pasig before the show opened. So please do hear our reasons why you should want one too.

Just a week ago, the new Ford Fiesta, with its 1.0L EcoBoost engine, made its ASEAN debut at the 34th Bangkok International Motor Show. From our sources within Ford Philippines, we knew that the facelifted model will be coming to the Philippines within the year. But we didn't expect them to pull a rabbit out of the hat when it made a special 1-day appearance at the 9th Manila International Auto Show (MIAS).

Honestly, we didn’t expect the new Fiesta to make it to the show, let alone a local-spec left-hand-drive unit. We only found out when we saw a peculiar little car covered with a silver silk cloth on Ford's display. Sadly, Ford decided to hide it from public view for the remaining three days of the show.

mirage recall
Barely four months have passed since the all-new Mirage was launched, and yet Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) is already recalling 1,420 examples of their latest subcompact hatchback. The voluntary safety recall was issued to address concerns about the Antilock Brake System or ABS. Coverage of of this recall are units sold between November 2012 and March 2013.

MMPC's principal Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has discovered that the front wheel speed sensors on the affected Mirage units had insufficient waterproofing. And if penetrated by water from rain or during carwash, it may cause the ABS to not function correctly. Although there has been no reported accident as a consequence of this problem, MMPC is voluntarily conducting this safety recall as a its proactive commitment to quality and customer safety.

After the long search, the 2012 - 2013 Car of the Year Philippines (COTY-P) has finally been revealed last April 4, 2013 at the 9th Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) held at the Philippine Trade and Training Center (PTTC). Following the footsteps of last year’s winner, the Hyundai Elantra - of which we see many of on the streets - this year’s champ is none other than the all-new Mitsubishi Mirage GLS MT.

edsa taft flyover
The corner of Taft Avenue and EDSA is known for its heavy traffic flow at any given time of day, so much so that it was chosen as one of the locations for the filiming of ‘The Bourne Legacy’ last year for that reason. But the government hopes to rid the area of its reputation by constructing a flyover, which adds a total of four lanes - two northbound lanes (1.42 km) and two southbound lanes (under 1 km) - to the span of EDSA that connects Malibay Bridge in Makati City to F.B. Harrison Street near the Heritage Hotel in Pasay City.
