At last, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) is really to bring the CR-Z here. Deliveries, however, are not expected to arrive until August. So what they're doing to help pre-sell their new two-door hybrid sports coupe is to take it on a road tour. The CR-Z will make a total of nine stops across Honda dealerships in Metro Manila. But do care to note that they'll display the CR-Z Mugen Concept previewed at the Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) last year, not the latest 2013-spec CR-Z that's on sale.

Available in six variants, HCPI began pre-selling the CR-Z last April 26, 2013 on a “first come, first serve” delivery basis. That means, if you put in your reservation on the 1st week of May, you're assured to be one of the first few to get a brand-new CR-Z by August.

If you're driving a brand new car with no plate numbers, you definitely need to listen up. The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has begun implementing Memorandum Circular No. 06 entitled “Guidelines in the implementation of the UVVRP for new vehicles without license plates but with conduction stickers.”

The newly-signed memorandum reiterates that brand new vehicles without license plates are also covered by the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP), otherwise known as the number coding scheme. But here's the catch. As we've reported earlier this month, MMDA wants dealers and vehicle owners to prominently display the conduction sticker “on spaces allotted for regular license plates in front and at the rear of the vehicle.”

Do you still remember the old Chevrolet Aveo? If your answer is no, we don't blame you. That's because the sedan and hatchback versions, yes there are two, looked miles apart. Besides the obviously missing trunk, the five-door version had a a completely different front end, which gave the nameplate a bit of an identity crisis. Although both were good to drive and had the looks to match, it sadly wan't one of the popular subcompacts of its time.

To give it a second chance at life, the bow-tie-brand rebooted the nameplate and renamed it as the Sonic. It's packed with better styling, more features, and most importantly, identical designs for the hatchback and notchback versions. In case you're wondering, they now call it a notchback and not a sedan because the trunk is shaped more like a notch.

Nothing says “You've made it” quite like a brand new BMW. That's why the Asian Carmakers Corporation (ACC), the official importer and distributor of BMW in the Philippines, came up with FlexiLease - their newest ownership program that will let all aspiring BMW owners know what it feels like to be top gun at the most convenient way possible.

FlexiLease is open for both individual and corporate customers and offers (1) minimal 10% deposit; (2) operating lease; and (3) 24 and 36 month lease terms. Plus, the monthly fees are inclusive of Comprehensive Insurance, LTO Registration, BMW Standard Maintenance Services, and Fast approval of lease applications (5 working days for individuals and 7 working days for corporate customers).

French carmaker, Peugeot (pronounced as 'pyu-joe') is coming to America to join the country’s second oldest auto race - the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The battle shall take place in Colorado this June 30, 2013 where those who dare shall climb a 20 kilometer mountain track with more twists and turns than a local telenovela (156 turns to be exact). With a speedy ascent of 2,862 meters to the 4,300 meter summit, the altitudes’ thinning air adds to the perils to be faced by the racers, aside from the more threatening and more obvious danger of falling off the peak.

When a car manufacturer gives one of its models a mid-cycle update, they normally put in new bumpers, new wheels, and maybe better safety features. Honda, on the other hand, had other things in mind when they updated the Odyssey for 2014.

Like everyone else, I'm pretty sure the guys at Honda also have to vacuum their cars every so often. And we all know what a chore that is. So they came up with a solution. The revamped Odyssey highlights Honda's first-ever vehicle to be fitted with a vacuum cleaner called HondaVAC. This tie-up with ShopVac composes of powerful vacuum, replaceable filter, canister bag, and attachable nozzles - all located in the cargo area to make clean-ups quick and easy.

bimmerfest x
The BMW Car Club of the Philippines is celebrating something monumental this year. That's because the only official BMW club in the country recognized by BMW AG is hosting Bimmerfest X - their 10th annual all-BMW car show.

For some, BMW is just a car brand that represents a certain lifestyle of affluence. But for these guys, it represents passion, performance, camaraderie, and most importantly, joy. So from 10 am to 9 pm on May 4, 2013 at the Filinvest Tent, Filinvest City in Alabang, visit Bimmerfest X so you too can be part of the BMW experience.

Now on its 10th year, this will be the first time for Bimmerfest to be held indoor, showcasing one of the biggest collection of cars by far. To be exact, they're expecting about 100 BMWs to be on display. And for this year, the BMW Owners' Society of Safe Riders will join in the fray to display their own BMW motorbikes.

I still remember it quite clearly when Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) told us last year that they'll only make the CR-Z hybrid sports coupe available locally if, and only if, Senate Bill No. 2856 is passed into law. Although the Senate has already given the “Electric, Hybrid, and Other Alternative Fuel Vehicles Incentives Act of 2011” the green light, a certain Mr. Aquino has yet to sign it. So instead of waiting for legislation's snail's pace, HCPI jumped the gun and announced that they're now accepting reservations for the CR-Z.
