Last year, the whole country was abuzz when the Philippine Team’s contingent for football, the Azkals, qualified in the semi-finals of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup for the first time. Having been overlooked by the football community for many years, the Azkals’ victory paved the way for the Philippines to be recognized as a viable competitor in the football scene.

The AFF Suzuki Cup, established in 1996, is a biennial football competition organized by the ASEAN Football Federation, with the national teams from Southeast Asia as participants. As football is considered the most popular sport in the ASEAN region, the AFF Suzuki Cup quickly rose in popularity, and achieved a following akin to the South East Asian (SEA) Games football tournament.

This year, Suzuki Philippines (SPH), the only integrated automobile and motorcycle company in the country, in partnership with the Philippine Football Federation (PFF), is hoping to keep the football fever alive with the launch of the PFF Suzuki Cup.

To launch the new Montero Sport GTV, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Inc. (MMPC) gave us the opportunity to join them as they push their SUV to its limits at the Clark International Speedway (CIS) in an event they dubbed as the “Hiroshi Masuoka Challenge.”

The schedule showed us that we were to be carted off to Clark, Pampanga a day before the actual event. This gives us the chance to cool our heels, escape from the stressful work week, and ensures that we would give our full attention to the following day's activities. But instead of joining the shuttle, I opted to drive up in my old, yet trusty, Subaru Legacy project car - with Chris Kho riding shotgun. As everyone went straight ahead to the hotel, we dropped by the track for a sneak peek.

Lo and behold, we discovered that a specially laid-out course was prepared on the infield of CIS that combined dirt and tarmac. Apparently, MMPC deemed this challenge to showcase the new-found power of the 2011 Montero Sport GTV's new engine and transmission combo.

A few months back, we were handed the keys of the all-new Volvo S60 T6 AWD to star in an action movie. Packing a ballistic 305 horsepower and all the safety features to boot, we took the Scandinavian saloon on track with a video camera on hand. Working with the theme “The all-new Volvo S60: Made for Action,” the film must embody the emotion, motion, and experience of the sassy S60 - a dynamic sport sedan meant to be experienced and stir emotions with its sheer power and animalistic appeal.

Uploaded in the Volvo Philippines Facebook page, the video we made is part of a contest where the winning group will get an all-expense paid weekend trip to Universal Studios Singapore. 50% of the judging criteria comes from the video's interpretation of the theme, and the other 50% comes from the number of “Likes” our video gets. This is where you, Kotse.com's loyal readers, come in.

We at Kotse.com are asking for your support to help the team win! To do this, simply follow the steps below:
