K&N Drop-in Filters is one of the essential upgrades for performance. Claims to increase up to 5hp, it's perfectly safe and washable. Who here uses one?

There are more than a hundred types of drop-in filters from several brands, but so far, K&N carries the most complete line-up for all cars in the market.

I bought one from Speedlab early this year for only P4,500. I didn't really buy it for performance gains, but because it lasts longer than the OEM filter and is washable, the investment pays for itself over the span of abut 4 to 5 years.

I just consider whatever HP gains as a bonus.

This is a revelation. With a K&N Drop In filter, baseline of my Honda Civic 2.0MT FD was at 141hp with the drop in filter. Then, we installed HotPipes exhaust manifold and the numbers went up to 146hp.

After that, we replaced the filter into a K&N SRI Cone Type Filter. The numbers jumped to 150hp at the wheel, but there's a catch. From 2,000 to 5,000 rpm, the AF became lean due to the increased amount of air that was going in. It was only at around 5,500 rpm when the HP shot up to 150 because the ECU was programmed rich near the rev limit. Now, with Unichip, I bet we can go as high as 155 or even 160 HP

The K20 is really the Last King of Hollywood.... Probably one of the last naturally aspirated 2.0s with huge potential.

Time to start scouring around for surplus K24 cams?
