mias2013 preview
There's no denying that the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) is THE biggest annual automotive event in the country. And on its 9th year running, they're expanding their exhibit floor space even further to over 27,000 sq. meters with more than 300 cars on display. But of all the shiny sheet metal at the show, here are the Top 9 new cars making their debut at the 2013 Manila International Auto Show this April 4 to 7, 2013 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

#1 All-new Ford Ranger Wildtrak
A year after the XLT's debut, Ford is headlining this year's show with the public debut of the Ranger's burlier brother - the Ford Ranger Wildtrak. It's packed with a Sport Package that includes a Roof Rail, Sport Bar, Box Rail, Bedliner, and most importantly, Wildtrak stickers. Ford also tossed out all the chrome pieces and replaced them with gunmetal bits. This big boy might be a brute, but it comes equipped with creature comforts such as special Wildtrak leather/cloth-covered seats, eight-way power seats, and Side Steps.

#2 All-new Mazda 6
This is the all-new Mazda 6 - Mazda's second model to wear the brand's new Kodo design language after the award-winning CX-5. We haven't received much info about the Philippine-bound units, but we're hoping that it comes with the new 2.0L SkyActive-G engine and maybe even the 2.2L SkyActive-D if we're lucky. When it makes it official debut at the 9th MIAS, the Mazda 6 would be Berjaya Auto Philippines' first ever vehicle launch since it took over the brand in January 2013.

#3 All-new Subaru Forester
Motor Image Pilipinas has already began selling and delivering units of the all-new Subaru Forester, but technically, it's not supposed to be launched until the 9th MIAS. In fact, we spotted the first batch of deliveries as early as February. When it does make it on stage, it'll be powered by a naturally-aspirated and turbo-charged 2.0L boxer engine and paired with a CVT.

mias2013 carensmias2013 jeepmoabmias2013 rcz

#4 All-new Kia Carens MPV
Only six months after the model's world debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, Columbian Autocar Corporation (CAC) is already ready to bring the all-new Kia Carens into the country. This is no longer your regular soccer-mom MPV as its now sexier and bolder than ever before. Not much has been said about the model but CAC is offering a P50,000 discount if you put in your downpayment at the show. Expect deliveries to come in May or June.

#5 Jeep Wrangler Moab
Named after one of the most popular off-road destinations in the world - Moab, Utah - the Jeep Wrangler Moab is equipped to take on the toughest terrain you could thow at it, even when blindfolded. The Moab edition comes with Trac-Lock anti-spin rear differential with electronic locking, winch-ready steel bumpers, and premium rock rails.

#6 New 2013 Peugeot RCZ
Eurobrands Distributors Inc. (EDI) will be showing off a facelifted version of their RCZ sports coupe. There's a newly redesigned front fascia that includes a new upper grill, reshaped lower intake, and LED daytime running lights. However, no mechanical revisions are expected under the sheetmetal so it will have the same 1.6L THP engine with 197 horsepower.

mias2013 pacemanmias2013 harleymias2013 brz

#7 All-new MINI Paceman
What is technically a two-door version of the Countryman is set to make its official launch at the show. The MINI Paceman is built for single parents who want to let everyone know that they're still available with no strings attached. Expect it to come with either a naturally-aspirated or turbocharged 1.6L engine and all-wheel-drive.

#8 Harley-Davidson
The 9th MIAS might techincally be a “car show” but that didn't stop American Motorcycles Inc., the new Philippine distributor of Harley-Davidson, from showoffing their big bikes. Prepare to see some big men with leather jackets, chains, and beards hanging around the Harley-Davidson booth.

#9 Russ Swift Stunt Show featuring the Subaru BRZ
Our dear friend Russ Swift will once again perform his exhilerating Stunt Show at the 9th MIAS. Powered by Subaru, Russ will have a new toy this year to play with - the all-new Subaru BRZ. We're just not quite sure which tricks he'll use the BRZ for, as he'll also be using the previous-gen Impreza and Impreza WRX STI during the show. But all we want to see is Russ burn up some rubber with the BRZ. As always, the Russ Swift Stunt Show performs daily at 1:30 PM, 3:30 PM, and 5:30 PM with a mere P50 entry fee.

There are also other exciting activities that will surely blow your socks off. Russ Swift returns with his precision driving stunt show with Subaru. There have been rumors going around that he'll be doing stunts will the all-new BRZ, but we can't say for sure just yet. Ford will also host 4x4 off-road demo, which will star the all-new Ranger Wildtrak 4x4. Then, on the opening night, the Car Awards Group Inc. (CAGI) will crown a new 2012 - 2013 Car of the Year Philippines (COTY-P).

The 8th Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) is all set to go this March 29, 2012 at the World Trade Center (WTC) in Pasay City. With 26,000 sq. meters of exhibit space, it promises to be the Philippines' biggest motoring event of the year yet again. And in line with year's theme “Life in the Fast Lane,” we're giving you a quick preview of the 10 new cars scheduled to make their official Philippine debut at the show.

#1 Subaru XV
xv_01xv_02xv_03xv_04

The the XV is the soft-roader equivalent of Impreza, much like what the Outback is to the Legacy. Fitted with bigger wheels and a higher ground clearance, the XV is surprisingly able to maintain its proportions and look just as good. And despite its compact size, it doesn't feel any smaller than your average crossover. Powered by a new four-cylinder 2.0L boxer engine with a CVT drive, reports say that it can do 16 km/L on the highway - impressive numbers especially when you consider that it runs on permanent all-wheel-drive. While the compact crossover is not due to for its public debut until MIAS, the test unit from Motor Image Pilipinas has already been spotted making rounds in and out of the Metro.

#2 Hyundai Eon
eon_sketchfrontquartereon_sketchrearquartereon_dasheon_interior

Meant as a cheaper entry-level alternative to the i10, the EON is a little five-door hatchback that claims to have greater interior space than a Suzuki Alto and hold more luggage than a Chevrolet Spark. This micro car is powered by a frugal 814cc engine that can easily do 21.1 km/L of fuel. Equipped with features such as front power windows and a driver's side airbag, expect prices to go below P500,000.

#3 Hyundai Veloster
veloster_01veloster_02veloster_03veloster_04

Hyundai's sporty three-door coupe is finally arriving in the Philippines. Some units, however, have already found their way into the country through grey imports, but nothing beats HARI's 5-year warranty. And though the 1.6L four-cylinder Gamma engine might not be that speedy, we wouldn't really mind just strolling around in something that looks this good.

#4 & 5 MINI Coupe and Roaster
coupe_maincoupe_scene04miniroadster_topdownminiroadster_sideclosed

See MINI turn the cute and cuddly Cooper into a drop dead gorgeous Coupe and a drop top sexy Roadster. Still packing a punch in S and John Cooper Works form, the two-door sportsters stand as much as 52 mm lower and have two less seats than the standard Cooper. And with each holding 240 liters of luggage space, these Coopers are meant to be taken on long drives in the countryside.

#6 Ford Ranger
ranger_01ranger_02ranger_03ranger_04

Previewed earlier, the all-new Ford Ranger is finally stepping into the limelight after its official launch was delayed by a month due to supply problems. Both the five-cylinder 3.2L and inline-four 2.2L DuraTorq TDCi versions are expected to arrive locally where prices are tipped to be in the P1.1 to 1.4 million range. Though pricey, do consider that this is not just your ordinary pickup truck, and it comes with Dynamic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist/Hill Decent Control, a 4.2-inch LCD Multi-Information Display, Dual Zone Auto Climate Control, Rear Parking Sensors, Keyless Entry, and Security Alarm.

#7 Ford Explorer 2.0L GTDi EcoBoost
explorer_01explorer_02explorer_03explorer_04

The new variant of the Explorer will be powered by a smaller, thriftier, yet just as powerful four-cylinder 2.0L EcoBoost engine, and guzzle up to 12% less fuel than its V6 brother. Available only with front-wheel-drive, expect prices to be within the P2 million range.

#8 Range Rover Evoque
evoque_01evoque_03evoque_04evoque_06

Technically speaking, both the three- and five-door versions of the Range Rover Evoque were indeed launched back in January. But with so few examples plying the streets, this should be the first time most us would ever see it in the flesh and get up close. Packing 240 horsepower, three 8-inch touch-screen displays, five digital cameras, a 380 watt 11-speaker Meridian sound system, and two digital wireless headphones, this could just be the most awesome SUV yet.

#9 Foton Thunder (Tunland)
tunland_01tunland_02tunland_03tunland_04

Officially named the Tunland, we're speculating that Foton Motor Philippines renamed their upcoming pickup to make it at least more easily pronounceable and sound more familiar. The Thunder should be powered by a Cummins 2.8L turbo diesel engine with 160 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque. Measuring up to be bigger than the Toyota Hilux, it's not meant to replace the dependable Blizzard, but instead, become an upscale alternative. But with no official word for Foton, we could be wrong.

#10 King Long Univan
It has been four long years since Focus Ventures Inc., the local distributors of Chana and FAW, has come out with something new. And with their new brand King Long, they're hoping to re-enter the passenger car market with the Univan. But even with our best efforts, we couldn't find anything over the web that describes what the Univan is or what it remotely looks like. I guess we'll just have to wait until the opening day to find out.

The 8th Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) runs from March 29 to April 1, 2012 at the World Trade Center (WTC) in Pasay City and is open from 10 am to 10 pm.

The Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) opens this Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City and promises to be country's biggest motoring event of the year yet again. It’s so big, in fact, that the show has even invaded Kotse.com's wallpaper for the month of April.

Now on its 7th year, MIAS is taking a big leap into the future with its theme, “Automotive Evolution.” With more than 30 of the biggest brands littering the 23,000 square-meter display area, the show will feature some of the newest and most stunning cars in the Philippines. But before doors open in three days time, we're giving you a sneak peek of biggest attractions in this year's show.

#1: Hyundai Elantra
elantra_01elantra_02elantra_03elantra_04
Hyundai's answer to the compact car market is finally arriving in the Philippines. Looking like a downsized Sonata or an upsized Accent, Hyundai's middle child is packing a quite a number of tricks up its sleeve to outshine its siblings. Global versions of the Elantra come with a standard four-cylinder 1.6 liter or a newer 1.8 liter Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (D-CVVT) engine. It also boasts a new 6-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission. Hyundai claims that it’s so downright beautiful, they've dubbed it as “the compact car that other compact car manufacturers don't want you to see.”

#2: Mini Countryman
countryman_01countryman_02countryman_03countryman_04
The Mini is now all grown up with their new Countryman. Bigger and taller than all Mini's before it, the 5-door subcompact hatch claims to be a crossover SUV. Although it’s not a real off-roader, the Countryman comes equipped with all-wheel-drive and the same zippy 1.6 liter engine from the Cooper. It can how fit four passengers comfortably plus luggage for that out-of-town vacation. Mini is also hoping to revive its former glory days in rallying by entering the Countryman into the World Rally Championship (WRC) this year.

#3: Volvo V60
v60_01v60_02v60_03v60_04
We've recently turned the S60 into an action car with our video “Trackster” and now, Volvo went practical by making their sassy sedan into an estate. The V60 still bears the luscious curves of the S60 and its renowned safety features such as the City Safety and lane change warning system. On top of that, the V60 is also available with the blistering 304 horsepower T6 engine that we've all grown to love.

#4: Chevrolet Cruze Diesel
cruze_01cruze_02cruze_03cruze_04
The Cruze has already bagged the 2010-2011 Compact Car of the Year (COTY) and could even go take the title as the new COTY. It also now comes with an unbeatable 5 year warranty. But the celebrations for Chevrolet doesn't stop there as they are giving the Cruze a shot of diesel. Reports say that it will be powered by a 2.0 liter CRDi turbodiesel engine that produces 150 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque; big numbers for a car that's larger than life. Watch out Ford Focus, there's a new diesel in town.

#5: Other cars that will make it in the limelight at the 7th Manila International Auto Show include:
Audi A8
Chana Starlight II
Foton View Custom Van
Mercedes-Benz C-Class
Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet
Subaru Forester

#6: 2010 - 2011 Car of the Year Philippines
coty_maincoty_03coty_07coty_05
This year's show will also host the Car of the Year Philippines (COTY-P) 2010-2011 Awards Night where the best cars in the Philippines are recognized. Previous winners of the COTY-P include the Subaru Legacy (2009), Subaru Impreza STI (2008), Volvo C30 (2007), Mazda 6 (2006), and the Honda Civic (2005). But on the night of April 7, 2011, a new car will step up to the throne and claim the title of Car of the Year Philippines 2010-2011.

#7: Russ Swift Stunt Show
mias_43mias_44mias_45mias_47
Of course, MIAS will not be complete without the heart-pumping action-packed exhibitions of Russ Swift. This year, he'll be burning up more tire smoke in the brand new 2010 Subaru Impreza STI sedan. Catch his high-flying stunts performing every 1:30, 3:30, and 5:30pm at the show daily.

The Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) is the country's premiere automotive show, welcoming more than 70,000 visitors annually. Visit the biggest annual motoring event in the Philippines from April 7 to 10, 2011 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City

With its East Wing annex tent building and Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC) building now part of the show floor, a total indoor and outdoor exhibition space of about 23,000 square meters is achieved as this year's show promises to be more exciting than the last. MIAS aims to boost industry sales beyond its previous performance with a well-attended selling event, given an unparalleled track record of six consecutive years of automotive exhibition excellence.

Last year, MIAS welcomed some 78,000 visitors, showcasing over 300 cars and 25 auto brands. Aside from the main World Trade exhibition hall and lobby of 10,000 m2 and the 3,000 m2 tent annex building and some 6,000 m2 of outdoor exhibit and stunt performance area, MIAS has added some 4,000 m2 of indoor exhibition floor space at the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC) building, still making MIAS the country’s biggest annual motoring event

This year’s highlights will include the Russ Swift precision driving stunt show, Car of the Year (COTY) Awards Night, MIAS Custom Classic Car Competition, European Mobile Media competition, Top Gear photo contest and exhibit, 2011 car model launches, special vehicle and automotive heritage displays and exciting raffle prizes.
