laferrari mainIt is as if it was only yesterday Ferrari gave birth to the perfect steed - the 458 Italia - and did this little pony make waves. Everything about the Italia matched science, art, and wizardry; raising the bar so high, angels tripped on it. But given the strong red statement of perfection, Ferrari, like God, had other plans, plans so diabolical that even a car as infallible as the 458 Italia did not even make “flagship” status.

And this is why…

It's been a while since the world has last seen a new Corvette; exactly eight years have passed since the C6 (6th gen) was introduced. Since then, the competition has upped the ante and introduced their own interpretation of the ultimate American muscle car (see SRT Viper). However, just as the very first Corvette (C1) changed the scene 60 years ago, so does the latest all-new 2014 C7 Corvette. And on the 50th anniversary of the legendary C2 Corvette, they've resurrected a historical badge from the Corvette's long colorful history and christened this the Stingray.

On December 14, 2012, the very last LFA supercar rolled off Lexus' dedicated production facility at the Motomachi Plant, Aichi Perfecture in Japan. Painted in white, car no. 500 was also the last of the 50 exclusive LFA's to be built with the Nürburgring Package.

“This marks the end of a key chapter for Lexus, one in which people's perceptions and understanding of the brand have been challenged, and perhaps changed forever,” said Lexus' official statement, and indeed it has.

As the 5th year of the renowned budget supercar-killer dawns, engineers at Nissan found a uniquely new proposition. They went on to deliver a new car underneath an old one. Mid-model changes or upgrades always bring about higher horses, faster lap times, new wheels and bumpers, and other goodies that make the car more aggressive. Nissan, however, added a little something extra into the mix with the new 2013-spec GT-R

Before anybody starts getting giddy at the thought that the GT-R might have lost its teeth, let me run through the numbers. From the 3.8 liter twin-turbo V6, it now extracts 545 horsepower and 628 Nm of torque, which is quite a long way from the original 2007 model's anemic 480 hp.

Ever had those times when you meet a couple and thought what their kids would be like? It’s the same anticipation we had when McLaren gave the world a preview of the upcoming McLaren P1 at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. This vulgar display of car pornography gave us a peek of things to come from the loins of what used to be the ultimate super car, the McLaren F1.

But since only bits and pieces have been revealed about the entrails of the P1, we're left to dissect its little brother, the MP4-12C, to tickle our imagination and give a little “probably” to our “maybe’s.” To tickle out imagination, McLaren insiders threw a couple of bones… the biggest one being the MP4-12C.

Time flies when you're having fun, but not as fast when you're behind the wheel of an Audi R8. And time indeed has past as Audi's flagship supercar turns seven years old this year. By now, the factory at Neckarsulm, Germany would have already produced 20,000 examples of the R8 since production began in 2005. So, the German automaker decided to up the ante even further by refreshing its looks for 2013 and then some.

If you somehow felt that a 700 horsepower supercar that's wider than a truck and lower than a skateboard isn't impractical enough, how about a 700 horsepower supercar that's wider than a truck, lower than a skateboard, and with no roof?

If you were to say that only Lamborghini is outrageous enough to build something like that, you'd be right. The Lamborghini Aventador J is named after FIA Sporting Regulations "Appendix J", which covers specifications and regulations for racing cars. Forget the fact that the Aventador J breaks most of those rules, this car is simply mental.

Of the 500 units produced worldwide, LFA No. 161 has finally arrived in the Philippines. Draped in its official color code “079 whitest white,” the Japanese super sports car is the sole unit allocated to the Philippines and is estimated to have a price tag of over P40 million. Unfortunately for those who are just starting to save up, this one's already been spoken for. Still, you can catch a glimpse of this rare masterpiece in the flesh at its temporary home in Lexus Manila's showroom at the Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

“We want to share this rare and priceless automobile with the discerning public. Our doors will be open to showcase the LFA, the ultimate testament to everything that Lexus is capable of,” explains Lexus Manila Chairman, Mr. Alfred Ty.

After teasing the public with a pre-production version last year, the brand new production version Agera R was presented at the Geneva Motor Show this March 2011. The latest Koenigsegg hypercar is off the leash and ready to pounce.

No, it’s not a time machine. It’s more appropriately a time-warped machine. By that, I mean ageless, of course. The Agera takes on the original philosophy, shape, and size of the original Koenigsegg CC from 15 years ago. At the same time, its in-house developed 32-valve Twin Turbo V8 engine and LED-lit interior (among other things) keep it fresh and futuristic.

For this sexy beast to pounce, it needs the right amount of weight, or lack thereof. The Agera features the lightest and most compact hypercar engine in the world at a mere 197kg including the flywheel, clutch, dry sump system, and Inconel exhaust manifold with turbo. But don’t let the light weight fool you; the Agera's engine has class-leading power and torque characteristics. Depending on the version and fuel, it can reach a maximum of 1200 Nm of torque and 1,100 hp. To make certain of a long driving range, this ride comes with an 80 liter fuel tank. And seeing how everyone loves responsible luxury, the Agera engine complies with the most stringent environmental regulations in the world - EU5 and LEV2. Impressive!

Lamborghini's newest raging bull is here. Making its world-debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 is christened after a bull that entered into battle in October 1993 at the Saragossa Arena, earning it the “Trofeo de la Peña La Madroñera” for its outstanding courage. In the same manner, the LP 700-4 is a powerful and brutal animal created to wage war on track.

Sculpted with the same design philosophy as the iconic Reventón, the Aventador is rendered with razor-sharp lines that let it slice through air. It’s even embellished in the same “jet-fighter” theme with its large hexagonal air intakes at the front and back. And in true Lamborghini fashion, the Aventador features the signature upward-opening scissor doors. But its most striking asset is the optional transparent engine cover that reveals the 700 horsepower 6.5 liter V12 lurking inside the bull.
