It was only a little over six months ago when we got word that PGA Automobile Inc., the same guys behind Audi, Porsche, and Lamborghini, has been appointed as the sole authorized importer and distributor of Bentley in the Philippines. Kinda makes you doubt that the Philippines is indeed a third-world country, doesn't it? Well who cares when we'll have something this good cruising down our streets some day. And at last, these guys are ready to begin selling these beautiful winged “B's” as Bentley Manila officially opens for business.

Bentley Manila is the British luxury automaker's the first-ever showroom in the country. It's currently located on the 2nd floor of the PGA Building along EDSA.

AVID gets a steady start in 2013

In January 2013, the cumulative sales from members of the Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors Inc. (AVID) reached 2,625 units. Not bad, but not that great either. That's because it's only 1 car less than the group was able to sell in the same month last year. Still, AVID's report show that January's sales figures is a 23.4% growth from December 2012 thanks to the 43% expansion in the Passenger Car (PC) segment.

q3 main
Audi's baby SUV paid a quick visit to the country back in December of 2011 for a sneak preview. They allowed us to sit in it, press all the buttons, and examine it up close from all angles. Too bad it left as quickly as it arrived. No specs were given; no price range disclosed; and the only detail published was that it will be on sale in a year's time.

As the saying goes, “good things come to those who wait,” and what a long 13 month wait it had been! But at last, the all-new Audi Q3 2.0 TDI S-Tronic quattro finally made its public debut last week at Audi Philippines' showroom in Global City. And accompanying their latest compact SUV is a slew of fresh-faced Audis that are just as excited to hit our streets.

911date main
It's not everyday that you get the chance to go on a date with a supermodel - a voluptuous German one for that matter. So when the opportunity came my way, I could hardly say no. She might be a little wide on the hips, but she is sure to turn heads wherever she goes. Some have warned me that this doll could be a bit too hot too handle. Still, I've heard that she's great in the saddle. Her name is the Porsche 911 Carrera S, and she’s based on the latest 991 chassis.

Quite recently, PGA Cars Inc. rounded up the 2012 NCAA Champions San Beda Red Lions to mark the arrival of the all-new Audi Q3 into the Philippines. During the special sneak preview, the team was joined by San Beda’s Rector Father Tarcisio Ma. Narciso, OSB, Father Basil Apostol, and of course, PGA Cars Chairman Robert Coyiuto Jr.

So why the Red Lions? Well apparently, PGA Cars Chairman RCJ as he likes to be called, is an alumnus of San Beda College and currently serves as a Trustee. We guess it's his way of showing support for his alma mater.

Not to be outdone by the French, the Brits are making their third wave into the country. MINI has garnered itself a loyal following, having kept its British roots; but they're now technically German after BMW bought the brand in the mid-90's. Jaguar is successful in prowling our streets, consistently turning heads and demanding attention. So who’s next to come for a stay? Back in 2011, we've heard rumors that PGA Automobile Inc., the same people behind Audi, Porsche, and most recently, Lamborghini, are in talks to bring a “winged brand” into the Philippines. At first, we guessed Aston Martin, but we now finally have confirmation that it is indeed luxury automaker Bentley.

In today’s world where people actually have to be smarter to keep up with the onslaught of technological advances, it’s not a wonder that cars have evolved to be smarter, too. And while everything else has opted to go smaller and plainer, a certain German automaker decided to take a detour.

Passersby at the Audi Global City showroom may have noticed a bold - and rather big - new hatchback standing by the large glass windows. It was, of course, none other than the all-new Audi A1. Standing 3.954 meters long, 1.740 meters wide, and 1.416 meters tall, the A1’s size is apparent. Every arch and sweep of its figure means business. After all, it is meant for city revelry.

After months of waiting, the raging bull is finally here. Although the Italian supercar brand had its soft launch as early as January, Lamborghini Manila has now officially and finally opened its showroom doors. So if you have a big enough bank account, you can call them up right now and set up an appointment so you can get up close and personal with one of these rare beasts.

Lamborghini Manila sits right beside fellow PGA Cars Inc. conglomerate Audi Global City, located on the 11th Ave. at the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig. On top of Lamborghini's full model range, the supercar dealership also offers warranty and full maintenance services, as well as spare parts and accessories to make sure that all bulls, old and new, are in tip top shape. And if you don't want to just drive Lamborghini, you can also wear Lamborghini, as they're also distributors of the exclusive fashion line of Collezione Automobili Lamborghini.

While the rest of the Philippine automotive industry declined by 1%, the Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors (AVID) enjoyed a strong start for the second quarter of 2012 with a 31% growth. From January to April of this year, AVID members were able to sell a total of 10,633 units, compared to the 8,119 in the same period last year. On top of that, April's overall total sales also rose by 12% versus the same month in 2011.

Ok, perhaps it's not exactly 10,000, but with the least capable vehicle available for testing producing almost three times more than your typical subcompact, while the most powerful easily over 500, to it's easy be lulled into thinking that the day's selection had a total power output was within that region... or a bit more. In fact, the experience could undoubtedly be the automotive equivalent of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey's “The Greatest Show on Earth.” This, ladies and gentlemen, is the Porsche World Roadshow = a day wherein every model in the Porsche catalog are driven in the manner they were designed to be driven, made possible only by Porsche AG and PGA Cars Inc.
