Remember back in September 2012, when Berjaya Auto Philippines Inc. signed an agreement with Mazda Motor Corporation to make it the new distributor of Mazda vehicles, parts, and accessories in the Philippines? Well, the day has finally come when they take the helm of this Japanese brand and bring it back to business. And now that they're in control, they have big plans for the brand in the not-so-distant future, which we should all look out for.

“Better late than never,” they say. Although we've already seen this familiar pickup in showrooms as early as July, Mazda Philippines only recently advised us that their all-new 2012 BT-50 pickup truck is officially here. And now that the Japanese automaker is in the middle of divorce proceedings with Ford Group Philippines, it'd be great to see the BT-50 try to upstage the blue oval brand's Ranger, which also happens to be its fraternal twin.

According to its design team, the BT-50 was sculpted as a “sophisticated beast.” So how do you turn a brute into a prima donna? Well, aside from just giving it a futuristic wedge-shaped profile and slapping on the Mazda 6's front end to it, Mazda engineers have also fitted it with more features than your iPad. Of course, this pickup has its muscular side to it too, highlighted by Mazda's signature five-point grill, boomerang-shaped headlights, and beefy wheel arches.

Two things have become a daily fact of life for many urban dwellers: the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and the weekly rise of fuel prices. The convenience of an SUV makes it the primary choice for many car owners - spacious interior, high ground clearance, and grunty engine. Unfortunately, rising fuel prices have never been good for their wallets. Many have opted to go the path of a small and fuel economic car, while others simply pray for better days. But with the recent launch of the all-new 2012 Mazda CX-5 and its much-anticipated Skyactiv technology, the promise of a fuel-sipping SUV has arrived. But does it deliver?

Since the model's first debut in 2003, the Mazda 3 instantly became one of Mazda's best-selling nameplates in the Philippines and around the globe - a title which it still holds to this day. And now there's a new successor to the throne. Welcome the all-new 2012 Mazda 3

If you're paying enough attention and did the math, you'd quickly realize that Mazda's second generation compact is actually about three years overdue when it was launched locally at the Mazda Expo last week. In fact, the rest of the world has been enjoying its blessings since 2010. But let me assure you, the all-new Mazda 3 is as young and well-equipped as its compact competitors and doesn't show its age, not even by a bit.

Only seven months have passed since the all-new CX-5 made its world debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show and Mazda's latest crossover is finally here. Launched last week at the Mazda Revolution held at the NBC Tent, Bonifacio Global City, it would be the first vehicle in Mazda's line-up to adopt the ground-breaking SKYACTIV technology and 'KODO - Soul of motion' design theme. And while we got its initial P1,392,000 price tag spot on, we did didn't quite expect that the CX-5 would look this good in person.

Just a week ago, Mazda Philippines divulged that three all-new models are headed our way in the second quarter of 2012. It was pretty obvious that the first two models are the all-new Mazda 3 and BT-50, but we were still in the dark about the third. After a bit of internet scouring, we were all stumped when a little bird told us that, barely eight months since its world debut in Frankfurt, the all-new CX-5 is ready to hit the local showrooms in April.

In 2012, Mazda Philippines is taking on new territories as it doubles its dealership network with the addition of eight new dealerships, brining the total number to 16. Included in the expansion plan are Manila Bay, Pasig, Cavite, Tarlac, Cabanatuan, Ilo-Ilo, Davao, and the recently-opened Mazda Dagupan. And according to the Japanese automaker, all this effort is in support of the launch of three all-new Mazda vehicles.

Managed by the Laus Auto Group, one of the country's biggest auto dealership network, Mazda Dagupan is only Mazda's second dealership in northern Luzon. The newly constructed facility boasts of a showroom that can fit five vehicles and a full service bay. Located at the automotive district of Lucao in Dagupan City, Mazda Dagupan is part of Mazda’s expansion program to serve the growing requirements of customers in northern Luzon.

Following in Ford's footsteps, Mazda Philippines now offers the 24-hour Parts Guarantee for loving owners of the Mazda 2, Mazda 3, and Mazda CX-7. This means that, if any of their 65 genuine parts for repair and maintenance don't make it in your hands, or in your car’s for that matter, within 24 hours, you get them replaced for FREE.

But hold your horses, smarty pants! The program only covers spare parts that fall within six essential groups - scheduled service maintenance, brake parts, suspension and steering, electrical and air conditioning, powertrain, and body and collision. These are components that wear over time or regularly need replacement, so don't go barging into a Mazda dealership demanding for parts that the average person won't break.
