Philippine roads (or lack thereof) aren’t exactly a popular feature among many - locals and foreigners alike. The trek along the bumpy urban jungle and the vicious rural terrains have earned themselves quite notorious reputations, but all that is about to change. Land Rover Philippines (LRPhils) has teamed up with the Department of Tourism (DOT) and Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) in an effort to boost Philippine tourism.

The Land Rover Club of the Philippines (LRCP) is more than just your typical car club. Yes, they do love showing off their best sheet metal and getting down and dirty four wheeling on the weekends; but other times, they go beyond by lending a helping hand in times of crisis or representing the country in international events.

Contrary to popular belief, not all Range Rover owners are big, brutal, wealthy, hairy men that enjoy leisurely weekend afternoons playing golf and go off-roading in the bush whenever they want to. Hence, they've made a smaller and trendier version for the more modern crowd of today, fit for late night clubbing, out of town road trips, and sunny days on the beach. Let me introduce to you the all-new Evoque, Range Rover's baby SUV, and it's now here in the Philippines.

LRPhils Motors Inc., the exclusive distributor of Land Rover in the country, officially unveiled last week the three- and five-door versions of the all-new Range Rover Evoque - arguably the smallest, lightest, and most spectacular Range Rover ever to roam the face of the Earth.

Land Rover Philippines Motors Inc. (LRPhils), the exclusive distributor of Land Rover vehicles in the Philippines, together with the Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF), recently exhibited its Land Rover Defender 110  garbed in the “Land Rover - Defender of the Philippine Eagle” livery designed by Team Manila graphic design studio. This advocacy aims to renew awareness for the plight of the Philippine Eagle as an endangered species and a symbol of national pride. With this campaign, LRPHils also hopes to generate support in protecting the Haring Ibon, the king of the Philippine forests. PEF ambassador and well-known animal advocate Kim “Kuya Kim” Atienza was present at the event to support the campaign.

On February 17, 2011, LRPhils Motors Inc., together with Team Manila, officially adopted an eagle and named her “Defender”. “This is only the first step of the ‘Land Rover - Defender of the Philippine Eagle’ awareness campaign, as we hope to continue our support in this advocacy for the sake of our children, the future ‘Defenders’ of the environment,” said LRhils Executive Director Marc Louis Soong.

Over the Hills: Land Rover Experience

Words and photos by Christopher Kho

discovery3_seesawThe hills may be alive with the sound of music, but how would you get there? You’d have to climb every mountain, ford every stream, follow every rainbow, ‘til you find your dream. And for the past 60 years, there has only been one car brand, which can do all of these things unfailingly. Land Rover has been giving the best 4x4’s the world has ever seen for the past six decades and to celebrate,  LRPhils Motors Inc, the Philippine distributor of the celebrated English brand, has invited us for a day of fun over the muddy plains of Eaton City in Sta. Rosa, Laguna with their best set of wheels. It might be no hill or a mountain, but the boys of Land Craft worked the sweat off their brow and created a field complete with ruts, crests and streams for us to experience the best of what Land Rover has to offer.
