How the heck to they do it? Seriously?! Ever since the year started, Ford Philippines has been putting down record-breaking sales one month after the other. And last April 2013, overall sales reached 1,101 vehicles which is a 63% year-over-year jump from 2012, making it Ford's best-ever April performance in the Philippines. With a growth this big and this consistent, their competitors must feel jealous, if not threatened.

escortconcept mainLong before the Laser, Lynx, and Focus, there was the Ford Escort. Its life started in the late 60's as a great family car and proved to be a equally-great rally car as well. But after 32 years in production and six generations, Ford decided to pull the plug and replaced it with the Focus that we have today.

However, a lot has changed since Ford last built an Escort. More specifically, China's boom has transformed it into an economic giant. It's so big that they're now the world's largest producer of motor vehicles and account for almost 1/3 of the annual global car sales. With this, it's a no-brainer for automobile manufacturers to take advantage of their fast-growing car market by tailoring specific models just for them. And Ford's solution is to revive the Escort as a concept that's intended solely for China.

Ford's display at the recently-concluded 9th Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) was by far this year's biggest - spanning the entire length of the World Trade Center and measuring at 1,000 sq. meters in floor space. Ford's entire line-up was proudly on display, from the pint-sized Fiesta all the way to the colossal Explorer. They were all poised in the spotlight, outshining even the leggy models in high heels beside them.

But tucked away at one corner were two little white trucks that only a few peering eyes noticed. They might not be the prettiest or fastest on display, but we're pretty sure that both can easily outsell all other Ford nameplates 100-to-1. We're talking about the new Ranger 2.2L 4x2 Chassis Cab and Single Cab - tough trucks that will help your business go places.

The demand for more fuel efficient cars has been on the rise as pump prices becomes more and more expensive. One brand that is addressing this concern is Ford, who has poured out all their efforts to develop a little engine that could known simply as the 1.0L EcoBoost. Ford's new mil has already won accolades such as the 2012 International Engine of the Year and Popular Mechanics' Breakthrough Award just to name a few. And if we're lucky, we could be driving one on Philippine roads as early as this year.

At the 34th Bangkok International Motor Show, Ford introduced the much-awaited refreshed 2014 Fiesta that's bundled with the three-cylinder 1.0L EcoBoost engine. If three-cylinders and 1.0L sounds puny or underpowered to you, think again.

Remember how back in the day, people would think that you're driving a gas-guzzling two-meter-wide three-ton truck when you tell them you own an SUV? Nowadays, car designers have invented smaller and more managable-sized SUVs that better fit city roads, garages, and driveways. But Ford is taking things one step smaller. Meet the all-new EcoSport - Ford's newest bite-sized mini-SUV.

The Detroit-based car manufacturer marked the ASEAN debut of the all-new EcoSport urban SUV at the 34th Bangkok International Motor Show. You’ve probably heard about the all-new Ford EcoSport as early as last year. Developed under the “One Ford” global strategy, it's based on the Fiesta’s B2E platform and shares certain components with the subcompact. It's said to be the perfect alternative to compact cars for those who want to drive small and tall.

Who would have thought that a 10 month old, P1-million, 2wd pick-up truck would eventually become Ford Philippines' best-selling model? You read that right. In February 2013's sales report, the blue oval brand managed to sell 251 all-new Rangers - beating sales figures of the Everest, Explorer, Focus, and Mustang. This helped Ford record a 108% year-over-year sales jump to 865 units. And this coming April, Ford will further expand the all-new Ranger line-up with the introduction of the Ranger Wildtrak at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) which should help boost the numbers even higher.

The Ford Fiesta ST was built for weekend speed junkies who want the extra oomph but are practical enough for daily drives and trips to the supermarket. It packs a four-cylinder 1.6L EcoBoost engine with 197 horsepower and should go from 0 to 100 km/h in under 7.0 seconds. Quite thrilling, that is until you see this. Ford Racing, with OlsbergsMSE from Sweden, has built a Fiesta on steroids that has 600 hp, all-wheel-drive, and can jump to 100 km/h in less than 2.0 seconds. So what if it only has one seat and can't fit any groceries? Who cares if you've got 600 hp under your right foot?

This is the Ford Fiesta ST Globally RallyCross Championship (GRC) race car, which will be used for the blue oval brand's campaign in the 2013 Global RallyCross Championship, and will driven by two-time GRC champion Tanner Foust, Brian Deegan, and the Gymkhana King himself, Ken Block.

Want to learn how to race cars the right way? Here's your chance. Tuason Racing School (TRS) is once again accepting enrollees for their 1-day Basic Circuit Racing Class this coming April. They'll teach you the basics on threshold braking, downshifting, racing line, and track lapping under the guidance of none-other-than multi-titled racing champion, JP Tuason.

All you need to have is a valid driver's license, ability to drive a manual transmission car, and P18,000 for the course fee. But for those who are underage and have no license, TRS is willing to make an exception. Just get a written consent and certification from either a parent or guardian stating that the enrollee knows how to drive.
