k10_mainPerhaps it’s a good measure of the mental state that the Suzuki Alto K10 puts you in, because the very first day I had it, I instinctively put on my old Adidas driving shoes. I haven’t worn these things for the longest time, and last time I was on the racetrack, I bummed it and wore a pair of leather sandals instead. But for the Alto, I pulled my beloved F40 GTs out of the closet and dusted them off. I even polished and laced them properly just for this ride.

It’s even more telling that I raised the Alto's tire pressure from the standard 32 psi up to a rock-hard 45 psi just to get that tiny bit more cornering grip. But what proves it beyond any reasonable doubt is that every time I get out of the K10, I’m grinning from ear to ear.

This is an engaging little car. Even better, it’s the most economical car we’ve ever driven.

Suzuki Philippines Inc., the only integrated automobile and motorcycle manufacturer in the country, is showing off their best on both two and four wheels at the Suzuki AutoMoto Grand Invasion happening on December 15 to 18, 2011 at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall. Peer into the entire Suzuki line-up (including a sneak-preview of five new motorcycles for 2012), get FREE service check-ups, and have a blast at the AutoMoto's daily activities.

Four-wheeled fanatics will not only get to feast their eyes on but also test drive the Suzuki APV, Swift, and the newly-launched Alto K10. Riders on two-wheels, on the other hand, can bask in the complete array of Suzuki motorcycles with several custom bikes on display. But don't dare miss the show's main attraction, Suzuki's fresh bikes for 2012.

Lets face it, Suzuki never meant the Alto to turn heads nor to stand out. It's designed to be the staple diet of the masses, just like Jollibee's Yum Burger - cheap, tasty enough, and moderately filling. And that's pretty much why it's Suzuki Philippines’ most popular and fastest-selling compact car. But after some time, the taste does get a bit boring, which is why Suzuki had to spice up the recipe by slathering it with the mechanical equivalent of a slice of cheese and a pickle to come up with the new 2011 Alto K10.
