Ford Philippines' dry spell is almost over. After floods in Thailand crippled their supply network for two months, the blue oval brand is finally on the road to recovery as vehicle supply from the kingdom continues to improve. As proof, they were able to record a 50% sales increase for the month of March selling 624 units. And with three new vehicles launched at the 8th Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) plus the arrival of all-new Focus scheduled later in the year, the future definitely looks bright for Ford.
Two scores and eight years ago this day, the Ford Motor Company introduced to the North American market what would be one of the most iconic nameplates in automotive history. Described as “the unexpected,” the Ford Mustang was a car designed for the fun-loving young Americans in the retro era.

Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) just released a voluntary safety recall of some 20,587 affected CR-V's to replace components of the Lighting Switch Assembly with countermeasure parts. The safety recall involves the low beam connecting wire replacement of second-generation 2002 to 2004 model CR'V-s.
Findings show that due to insufficient length of the headlight switch's electric wire, the wire is being stretched during operation. As a result, the terminal wire joint moves and causes increase in contact resistance, thereby generating heat that could cause the wire connecting coupler to melt. This would eventually lead to a headlight switch malfunction and cause the low beam to become non-operational. Thankfully, no accidents or injuries have been reported related to this defect.
After almost six months of inactivity, Honda's automobile production facility in Thailand is finally back up and running. The plant located in the Rojana Industrial Park, Ayutthaya was hit badly by flood waters late last year and was forced to shut down since October 4, 2011. But after countless days, weeks, and months of restoration efforts, the production lines at Honda Automobile Thailand Co., Ltd. (HATC), including their 4,000-strong workforce, are once again ready to give life to brand new Honda's.
The Asian Carmakers Corporation (ACC), BMW's official importer and distributor in the country, just issued a Quality Measure Campaign for previous generation BMW 5 Series (E60/E61) and 6 Series (E63/E64) models built between 2003 and 2010.
The global campaign focuses on a possible incorrect mounting of the battery cable cover inside the boot. This may result to an electrical system malfunction, thereby causing the vehicle failing to start, or in some cases, charring or fire. However, there have not been any reported accidents or injuries to persons resulting from this fault.
It's perhaps the worst-kept secret in the motoring world. While we've been hearing rumors about it for weeks, Nissan has finally confirmed it: Datsun is coming back! The Datsun name was once a large part of Nissan production, but it was dropped in the 80's as Nissan moved to unify its image and branding across all markets. However, given the strength of emerging markets like Southeast Asia and India, Nissan now feels the need to offer entry-level cars at even lower prices than the current Sentra and March command. The Datsun name may just be the ticket.
