Six out of the 10 members from the Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors Inc. (AVID) has collectively tallied sales of 2,241 motor vehicles in the month of October 2012. That puts them only 1% shy of last year's 2,254. Not bad. Do care to note though that Motor Image Pilipinas, the official distributor of Subaru in the country, wasn't an AVID member yet last year, so you're looking more at an 8% drop technically. However, the group's performance of 24,004 sales total between January to October is still 18% better than the 20,340 sold in the same period last year.

The 15th Toyota Classics that was staged last November 13, 2012 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) was undoubtedly a sellout. The one-night special performance, which featured the world-renowned Vienna Chamber Orchestra and multi-awarded guitarist Soichi Muraji amongst others, generated a total of P1 million in ticket sales. But the country's biggest automotive manufacturer, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP), isn't keeping the revenues for themselves as they donate the entire amount to the Toyota-City of Santa Rosa Gawad Kalinga Village Project. Not only that, TMP announced that they will add another P1 million to make their total donation to P2 million.

In just its first month in the market, the all-new Santa Fe has already managed to sell 390 units in October. With that said, we're pretty sure they could have done a whole lot better if only there wasn't a supply shortage from South Korea. Still, that's enough to boost Hyundai Asia Resources Inc's (HARI) year-to-date sales to 18,818 units, which is a 13% increase from the 16,705 units in the same period last year.

All in all, total sales in the Passenger Car (PC) segment has now reached 11,593 units, or 37% more than the 8,474 in January to October 2011. But the all-new Santa Fe's strong performance isn't enough to recover the Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) segment's 12% decline.

We all should know by now that Toyota is the biggest car brand in the Philippines. Just look at any street or parking lot, and tell us if it isn't obvious. And last October 2012, they reminded us yet again how unreachable they are.

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) recorded a new high score last month with sales reaching 6,946 units. That's exactly 688 more than what they sold in their previous best in July, and is now the highest any manufacturer ever achieved in a single month in the country. We're pretty sure that the Toyota Caravan held last October contributed a lot to this success.

teana asean
The Nissan Teana embodies style, comfort, and luxury in a midsize sedan. And that's exactly why it was chosen as the official vehicle provider for the 12th ASEAN Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministers Meeting (TELMIN) and 13th ASEAN Telecommunications and Information Technology Senior Officials Meeting (TELSOM) held in Mactan Island, Cebu last November 11 to 16, 2012.

Nissan Motors Philippines Inc. (NMPI), thru Mantrade Development Corporation, provided a total of 17 Teana 2.5L units (all painted in black) to be used by dignitaries in the prestigious five-day event. The Teanas were used to transport IT and Telco Senior Officials from 10 ASEAN member states and dialog partners from China, India, Japan, Korea, the European Union, and the International Telecommunications Union.

suzukiplant main
Suzuki's old motorcycle assembly plant in Pasig City was capable of pushing out 8,000 units per month. But until recently, it had a hard time keeping up with demand, as the country's 3rd biggest motorcycle brand was growing even bigger. So, with P1 billion in hand, Suzuki Philippines Inc. (SPH) built a new facility in Carmelray Industrial Park, Canlubang, Laguna that can now churn out 200,000 motorcycles a year (or roughly 16,667 a month).

CATS Motors Inc., the country's general distributor of the German tri-star brand, is making their after-sales service experience more pleasurable by switching to My Service - a new approach to car service that will enable their customers to fully experience Mercedes-Benz's After-Sales brand value. And to jumpstart this new program, Mercedes-Benz's own Service Guru, Christian Schmidt, will be in the Philippines this week to hold a special service clinic just for their clientele.

At last, Ford Philippines has managed to break the elusive 1,000 unit sales barrier. With a 50% year-over-year sales increase, the blue oval brand recorded a total sales of 1,248 units this October 2012. The closest they ever got to the magic number was way back in September 2011 when they sold 965 units.

Their best-ever monthly sales performance was driven by the strong demand across all their models. Heading the tally is the all-new Ford Ranger pickup truck, which also achieved its best-ever monthly performance. Sales jumped by 81% from the previous month to 282 units. Likewise, the Ford Everest posted its best monthly sales of the year with 311 units, proving just how good and versatile this SUV is.
