In 2011, McLaren launched its first wholly-developed production car ever since the McLaren F1. Dubbed as the MP4-12C, the sports coupe was never meant to supersede the legendary F1, but was the ultimate expression of McLaren's technological prowess. Impressive as it is, some say that there is still something missing with. McLaren's own F1 driver, Jenson Button, himself said that “You’re more part of the world without the roof… you can hear every single noise that comes from the car...” And that's exactly what they did. McLaren cut the roof off its latest supercar to create the MP4-12C Spider.

The new MP4-12C Spider will take you from 0 - 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds, same as its coupe counterpart. And if you have a long enough patch of empty road, it'll go all the way to 328 km/h. The coupe version, however, does go a little faster at 333 km/h, but who's counting anyway?  The car gets all that "oomph" from the powerful 616 hp, 3.8-liter twin turbo V8.

What some of you might have not known is that the 12C coupe was originally designed to be a convertible. So to make it a drop top version, its 75kg "carbon MonoCell" requires no additional strengthening for the production of the 12C Spider. This results in a convertible sports car that's almost identical to its hard top counterpart in terms of performance. It does, however, weigh about 40 kg more with the addition of the electric-folding roof system.
The Retractable Hard Top (RHT) can be operated at speeds up to 30 km/h and only takes 17 seconds to deploy or store. The MP4-12C Spider also features a rear windscreen that can be raised up when the roof is down to minimize wind turbulence in the cabin. Gentlemen with toupees need not to worry. With the roof raised, the area under the tonneau double as an additional 52 liters of useful luggage space.  So as a supercar, it's actually quite practical.

Want to buy one of these hot babies? Well, you'll only have to shell out around P11.4 million plus tax on this Spider.

The McLaren MP4-12C Spider is a supercar through and through. It's absolutely stunning to look at, goes like stink, and has a price that can feed an average family for an entire lifetime.  Nevertheless, it's truly an awesome car that's too hard to miss.
