In the flesh, the all-new 3 Series bears some cues to the rest of the BMW family. Its front fascia somewhat resembles the 1 Series and Z4, as the headlights now have that squinted angry look to it, while the signature kidney grill has been compressed, making it appear leaner and much sportier. The LED taillights also seem to have been borrowed from the bigger 5 Series. Its side profile, though, is undeniably a 3 Series. Now 93 mm longer and 9 mm taller than its predecessor, the increase in dimensions provides additional knee and head room for the rear passengers, making it a lot roomier than before. As for the cabin, there's nothing much to say about it, as it is the epitome of craftsmanship.
ACC brought in two engine variants: the 320d, which is powered by a 2.0 liter diesel engine with 184 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque; and the 328i with 2.0 liter TwinPower Turbo engine that produces 245 horses and 350Nm of torque. Both power mills are paired with either six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed automatic transmission. And like the 1 Series, the all-new 3 Series is also equipped with the Auto Start-Stop function to attain optimum fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.
To satisfy all discriminating tastes, the 320d is made available in three different trims - Sport Line, Modern Line, and Luxury Line, while the range-topping 328i comes exclusively in Sport Line.
The Sport Line is perfect for people who love to live life on the edge. It’s identified with its blackened air intakes on the front bumper, trim strip on the lower rear bumper, and a tail pipe embellisher. Fitted with sports seats, it comes in a choice of three upholstery options and four colors and sits on either 17 or 18-inch double spoke alloy wheels depending on the engine variant.
On the other hand, the Luxury Line connotes elegance with its tan-colored leather seats and dark brown wood strips on the dashboard and door inserts. Luxurious touches on the exterior include chromed grills, trim strip on the front air intake and rear bumper, grill slats, tail pipe finishers, and weather strips.
Lastly, the Modern Line characterizes a finer profile with the use of satin-finished aluminum. It comes with beige leather seats and satin aluminum trims on the doors and dashboard. Modern touches are also extended outside the vehicle with even more satin aluminum on the grill slats, air intakes, and rear bumper lining.
The all-new BMW 3 Series is now available in all six authorized dealers nationwide with a price tag of P3.490 million for the 320d and P4.290 million for the 328i.
