According to the tally, the impressive performance was largely driven by strong Passenger Car (PC) sales that more than doubled to 2,025 units from the 934 units sold in February 2011. The key to this was the timely arrival of new models and ready supply of stocks. This translates to a year-on-year growth of 41%. It's also good to point out that Motor Image Pilipinas, the official importer and distributor of Subaru in the country, has recently joined forces with AVID, and is thus helping rack up the numbers.
“On the back of continuing positive consumer outlook, favorable macroeconomic landscape, and aggressive marketing campaigns, we expect our strong sales performance to be sustained in the next quarters,” remarked AVID President Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo.
AVID is a private non-stock, non-profit business association that is composed of British United Automobiles Inc. (MINI), CATS Motors (Mercedes-Benz, Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep), Focus Ventures Inc. (Chana and FAW), Foton Motor Philippines, Hyundai Asia Resources Inc., Jaguar Cars Inc., Motor Image Pilipinas (Subaru), PGA Cars Inc. (Audi, Porsche, and Lamborghini), Scandinavian Motors Corporation (Volvo), and The Covenant Car Company Inc. (Chevrolet).
