In support of the Philippine Road Safety Action Plan 2011 - 2020 (PRSAP) and the UN's Decade of Action for Road Safety, Volvo Philippines conducted a Pedestrian Detection Crash Simulation during the Department of Transportation and Communication's (DOTC) Road Safety Forum held last February 22, 2012 at Camp Crame, Quezon City.

For the demonstration, the all-new S60 T6 equipped with Volvo's City Safety system was driven straight into an inflatable pedestrian dummy, where it automatically braked to a full stop and avoided a collision. The test successfully proved that Volvo's latest preventive safety technology can actually save lives on the road.

The DOTC's multi-sectoral forum on road safety was put together to strengthen the partnership between the government and private sector in reducing road accident fatalities. Its aim is to make a collective effort in implementing the Projects, Activities, and Programs (PAP) of the Philippine Road Safety Action Plan 2011 - 2012.

Volvo Vision 2020: A future where cars don’t crash
Since time immemorial, Volvo cars has been synonymous to safety. And by the year 2020, the Scandinavian automaker's goal is that no one will be injured or killed be it inside or outside a Volvo. That's why Volvo continues to work with governments and non-governmental organizations around the world to get car safety on their agendas.

Locally available in four different variants including a fuel-efficient turbodiesel engine through Viking Cars Inc., the Volvo S60 is equipped with City Safety as standard - a feature that allows it to automatically brake and avoid a collision with the car in front of it.

Volvo also extends its dedication to safety by protecting road users through a feature called Collision Warning with Full-Auto Break and Pedestrian Detection. Using a digital camera and radar to constantly scan the road ahead, it gives off a warning when it identifies people who are at risk in front of your car. The system will employ full brake force to stop your vehicle if you don’t react in time.
