In contrast, the Code 130R is a retro-futuristic coupe featuring the same 1.4 liter turbocharged engine, electric regenerative braking, and rear wheel drive. It's wrapped in a shell that looks like a cross between a baby Camaro and a BMW 1-Coupe, promising sublime performance and the same fuel economy as the Tru 140S.
Both sportsters will allow for great levels of customization and individualization, with WiFi connectivity and Chevrolet's MyLink system. Chevrolet plans to tour the US with these twin concepts, using lifestyle events, auto shows and social media to connect to future customers. It will also help determine which vehicle it will eventually produce and fully flesh out the details of the final product. Plus, we're hoping that the Tru 140S and Code 130R make an appearance in the next Transformers franchise.
From images, the Tru 140S looks more production-ready at the moment of the two wild, pie-in-the-sky concepts, and an exotic coupe version would certainly help boost the Cruze's sales numbers. But it's a fair bet that many enthusiasts will be clamoring for GM to produce the 130R, which promises to be a legitimate competitor for Toyota's 86 triplets.
