Nissan PH helps Habitat for Humanity rebuild homes in Sta. Cruz, Laguna
If you haven't yet noticed, there are two separate entities selling Nissans here in the Philippines. One is Nissan Motor Philippines, Inc. (NMPI) and the other is Universal Motors Corporation (UMC). While they're technically competitors in the market, these two have put their differences aside for a cause. Over the weekend, employees of NMPI and UMC teamed up with Habitat for Humanity Philippines to distribute repair kits to disaster-stricken communities in Brgy. Gatid, Sta. Cruz, Laguna.

Toyota, Nissan, and Mazda entangled in a massive Global Airbag Recall too

Just yesterday, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) issued a voluntary safety recall of some 9,743 units of 2001 - 2002 Civics and CR-Vs due to a faulty passenger side airbag. This was part of Honda's global campaign that involves more than 1.1 million vehicles world wide. Well, from the looks of it, they're not the only one with this problem because fellow Japanese giants Toyota, Nissan, and Mazda are also dealing with the same problem too.
You see, these four have been souring their airbag inflators from Takata - the world's second largest supplier of airbags and seatbelts. But due to a manufacturing defect, the airbags Takata supplied may not inflate correctly and cause injury. So technically, Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, or Honda are not at fault as some others would perceive.

China's all-new 2014 Nissan Teana is an American Altima in disguise

The Teana is Nissan’s flagship model in many countries, as it is here in the Philippines. It's the company’s answer to the likes of the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, and Hyundai Sonata. And just recently, the Yokohama-based car manufacturer, together with their Chinese partner Dongfeng Motor Co. Ltd., marked the world premier of the all-new 2014 Nissan Teana in Guangzhou, China.In case you haven't noticed from the pictures, the Chinese version of the Teana is actually what the Americans call the Altima which they got last year. It seems that Nissan is using a global model for several markets and tailor-fits each one to suit the taste of each continent. But for some reason, they have this bad habit of renaming each one which does get very confusing. Can't we all just get along and call this car the Altima?

PlayStation GT Academy winners deemed “TOO FAST” for British GT

Well that's disappointing. All four 2013 winners of Playstation's GT Academy have been denied entry into this year's British GT Championship on the grounds that they're “too fast” in a sport where going fast is the name of the game. Ironic isn't it?
You see, back in 2012, GT Academy winner Jann Mardenborough entered the British GT Championship alongside Alex Buncombe in the national Pro-Am category. As the “amateur,” Mardenborough was expected to be slower of the pair, but proved otherwise. The two pushed their Team RJN Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 that they almost won the championship.

Nissan updates the NISMO 370Z for 2014

The first NISMO 370Z came out back in 2009, only a few months after the standard 370Z was launched. It had a revised ECU, new exhaust, stiffer suspension, bigger wheels, and beefier brakes. So after four years, NISMO (short for Nissan Motorsports International Ltd.) decided to make a new one with a fresh list of upgrades to make it desirable once again. And boy does it look good.

All-new Almera: 8 reasons to love Nissan's newest subcompact (w/ video)

It was exactly 153 days ago when our eyes first caught a glimpse of the all-new Almera. Colored in Titanium Grey and sporting a huge set of aftermarket rims from Concept One, the subcompact was the centerpiece of Nissan's booth at the 2012 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). But something just didn't feel right back then. While it was displayed in all its glory, there was no fancy product presentation nor were there any brochures being given away like a typical public unveiling should. Instead, it stood there as a silent monument to let everyone know what was coming to eventually blow the competition out of the water. And at last, the wait is finally over.
We were there last night when the much-awaited all-new Nissan Almera made its official debut. Though we've already had to get up close and personal with it a few months back, this was the perfect chance to rekindle the relationship. And by doing so, we were able to gather 8 reasons for you to love the all-new Almera:

Nissan's all-new 2013 Almera 1.5L is ready to hit dealerships on December 14

A few weeks ago, we learned that Nissan Motor Philippines Inc. (NMPI) has indeed begun pre-selling their all-new 2013 Almera 1.5L. This Filipino-built subcompact sedan isn't scheduled to be launched until January, but they're so excited to let everyone see their newest baby that they're bringing the first batch of Almeras into Nissan dealerships nationwide by December 14.
“Space, Style, Comfort in a Compact Package” is just a hint of what the all-new Almera should shape up to be. According to the spec sheet, it has “class-leading comfort and interior space, as well as an upscale design coupled with great functionality.” It's also the first in its class to have a “rear comfort fan” to keep passengers in the back cool. They didn't say though if it's part of the A/C system.

Business Class on Wheels | 2011 Nissan Murano 3.5L V6

The first generation Nissan Murano arrived in the Philippines way back in 2006 via grey market importers. Powered by a 350Z-derived 3.5L V6, we thought of it as Nissan's very own sporty and classy crossover SUV -- it surely looked the part. Soon after, Nissan Motors Philippines Inc. (NMPI) got wind of this mighty SUV and began bringing it in themselves. But when it came to its successor, the Murano Z51, the local distribution switched over to Universal Motors Philippines (UMC), Nissan's local distributor of Light Commercial Vehicles. Technically, that shouldn't really change the buying and ownership experience, but we just wanted to get the word out. Now that we got that bit out of the way, we can start talking about the details.
This all-new 2011 Murano is based on Nissan's D-platform which it shares with the Teana. It has somewhat lost the old Murano's boy-racer appeal and now looks a lot more grown-up and sophisticated. Still, its unique futuristic styling makes it stand out from any crowd. So, does it still hold to its promise of being a classy crossover like before?

Nissan begins pre-selling the all-new 2013 Almera; Prices start at P710,000 (w/ video)

We saw the very first locally-assembled all-new Almera at the 2012 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) in August. Back then, Nissan Motor Philippines Inc. (NMPI) told us that they're just waiting Japan's approval before they can begin mass-producing and selling their newest subcompact, hopefully by early 2013. Well, I guess they finally got the thumbs up from their headquarters because they've already begun pre-selling the Almera as early as November 16.
