volvo conductionsticker
It was only a month ago when the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) began implementing a new number coding scheme for brand new vehicles. Memorandum Circular No. 06 entitled “Guidelines in the implementation of the UVVRP for new vehicles without license plates but with conduction stickers” required new car owners, specifically those who have yet to be issued plates by the LTO, to prominent display the conduction sticker number “on spaces allotted for regular license plates in front and at the rear of the vehicle.”

The problem was, the MMDA simply wanted car owners to copy the conduction sticker number on a piece of card board and place it on the plate number holder. So unless you've got serious art skills, chances are, your home made temporary plate will look like a preschooler's art project and so will your brand new ride.

Luckily, new Volvo owners won't have to go through this trouble. That's because Volvo Philippines is providing them with specially-made conduction plates until the LTO issues them license plates.

v40 scene01
It was way back in December of 2012 when we first got word from Viking Cars Inc., the official Philippine distributor of Volvo cars, that the all-new V40 was indeed coming to the Philippines. They said that their most modern five-door five-seater should be here by the “first quarter of 2013.” Well, it's finally here and promises to be “a modern expressive car, with characteristics from larger Volvos wrapped in a sleek, compact package.”

Volvo North EDSA now open to serve YOU

volvo northedsa
Volvo Philippines is bringing the Scandinavian brand a lot closer to their would-be customers in northern Metro Manila. Now open to serve YOU is their newly-opened dealership, Volvo North EDSA, located at Two Cyberpod ETON Centris, EDSA corner Quezon Avenue, Quezon City.

From what we've seen, Volvo North EDSA's showroom floor already has two Volvos on display, but can possibly fit as much as four Volvos at a time. It, however, does not offer servicing and you'll have to bring your vehicle to Volvo Makati for its preventive maintenance service.

volvo ericsson
It seems like Volvo has been off the grid for quite some time. So to keep themselves up-to-date, they've teamed up with Swedish neighbor and telecommunications giant Ericsson to get their cars back online. And what they've come up with is a service called “Connected Vehicle Cloud” that will allow drivers, passengers, and the car itself to access services available on the internet.

v40 frontquarter
Back in December 2012, we dropped by Volvo Makati to catch up with our friends from Viking Cars Inc. And while checking out their showroom display, we chanced upon their latest 2013 brochure. It listed down all their dealerships, including the upcoming Volvo Alabang and Volvo North EDSA, with their full line-up for the coming year. Of course it had the C30, S40, S60, V60, S80, XC60, and XC90. But there was a particular one that caught our eye, one that wasn't on the list a few months back. It was the all-new Volvo V40. According to one of their staff, it's coming first quarter of this year.

s60polestar main
The chaps at Volvo have finally stopped fumbling about their stand on making a true sports car and got their act together. Introducing their first serious shot at making a supercar, this is the 508 horsepower S60 Polestar Edition that made its public debut at the 2012 LA Auto Show.

Volvo debuted the S60 concept back in June; and while this may have wowed some, it left a lot more skeptical as to how serious the Scandinavians truly are with the said project. A good example is when they pushed the C30 Polestar Edition into production, but it turned out to be a dud compared to the concept car they showed a few years back. Learning from that experience, Polestar has stayed more faithful to its concept version in terms of looks and performance.

Aside from genuine parts, certified procedures, and internationally-trained technicians, to Volvo Philippines, there's got to be more to it than just your regular car service. In saying this, they're taking things to a new level by upgrading to Volvo Service 2.0 - a totally new concept that puts emphasis on customer service rather than just car service.

Service 2.0 is the collective term for all of Volvo's new customer service offerings and approach, which are all based on consumer needs. This is not merely a one-shot promotional campaign offered for a limited period. Instead, it's a continuous commitment to all Volvo owners of an enjoyable and hassle-free ownership experience.
