It was around five months ago when we first got to drive Hyundai's much-awaited Accent hatch that's fitted with a CRDi VGT engine upfront. Back then, Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (HARI), the official Philippine distributor of the Korean marque, told us that they were expecting the five-door subcompact to hit showrooms before 2012 ended. But it's now 2013 so where exactly is it? Well, after a few delays, HARI is proud to announce that the Accent CRDi VGT hatchback is finally available at Hyundai dealerships nationwide.

As the name suggests, this diesel-powered Accent runs on a 1.6L CRDi engine equipped with a Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT). It produces a maximum of 128 hp (at 4,000 rpm) and 260 Nm of toque (between 1,900 and 2,750 rpm) which is roughly 4 hp and 104 Nm more than the 1.6L petrol engine also available with the Accent.

Two variants are made available locally: a base Accent 1.6L DSL with a six-speed manual, and an Accent 1.6L DSL four-speed automatic. Both come with disc brakes on all four corners and ABS as standard equipment.

Price starts at P768,000 for the 1.6L DSL six-speed manual version. It's fitted with 14-inch steel rims with a full wheel cap, driver's side airbag, steering wheel audio controls, and power side mirrors. The four-speed automatic version, on the other hand, is listed at P868,000 and has 16-inch alloy wheels, fog lamps, dual front airbags, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, and electric heated power side mirrors.

Available colors are Clean Blue, Carbon Gray, Veloster Red, Sleek Silver, and Crystal White. Sorry guys, but the Electrolyte Green shade of their test mule is not available, as well as the sunroof.
