Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (HARI) officially inaugurated its 37th dealership in the Philippines last month. Located at 1174 EDSA, Balintawak, Quezon City, Hyundai North EDSA rose from where the old Nissan North EDSA facility used to stand and is operated by PGA Cars Inc., the same group of people who handles luxury marques Audi, Porsche, and more recently, Lamborghini.

The newly-constructed structure easily holds one of the largest Hyundai showrooms and service stations in the country. PGA even carried over the same luxury and comfort found in its other premium showrooms into the 800 square meter display area. It highlights amenities such as a VIP lounge, business center, and WiFi internet access to give customers an experience that's a class above the rest. Its state-of-the-art service bay can also accommodate over 50 vehicles at the same time.

superchevyservice_logoBased on J.D. Power Asia Pacific's 2011 Philippines Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) study, it turns out that Chevrolet has got the most satisfied after-sales service customers in the Philippines. The bow tie brand slips by with 827 points not only on service quality, but also in other factors that affects the overall experience such as service initiation, service advisor, service facility, and most importantly vehicle pick-up. Barely in its two years of operation and The Covenant Car Company Inc. (TCCCI), Chevrolet's exclusive distributor in the country, is already making its way to the top. Following suit in the top performers are Suzuki with 821 points and Ford with 811. Sadly, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, and Mitsubishi fall under the 796 point industry average.

In its continuous mission to raise awareness on the importance of fuel efficient and safe driving, the Honda Foundation Inc. (HFI) recently hosted a fuel economy workshop for its fleet operators from different government and private sectors. The whole day eco-safety driving training, held at the Honda Safety Driving Center (HSDC) in Parañaque City, was focused to collectively address the pressing issues on air pollution, climate change, and energy sustainability. Its 16 representatives came from the Office of the President (OP), Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC), Land Transportation Office (LTO), Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Maynilad, Manila Water, and Globe Telecom.

“Faced with finite fuel resources, high fuel prices and worsening air quality, we must put our efforts together and act immediately before it’s too late,” said Mr. Voltaire Gonzales, HCPI’s Head of Vehicle Sales and Corporate Communications.  “For fifteen years now, we have been teaching safe and fuel efficient driving techniques under normal conditions. With the simple formula: DRIVER + VEHICLE + FUEL = FUEL ECONOMY, application of correct driving style, use of a well-maintained vehicle that is designed with fuel saving technology and use of high quality fuel can easily extend one’s fuel mileage and reduce harmful emissions,” he added.
