Volunteers from the Honda Foundation Inc. (HFI) recently trekked to Tanauan, Real, Quezon to plant 7,500 tree seedlings of native species for its Reforestation Program and Road to 2020 project. According to studies, this should help contain and/or lessen the flood surge to the Quezon Province from the Kanan and Kaliwa Rivers that discharges water to Laguna lake.

In partnership with the Haribon Foundation, HFI' Road to 2020 project is an environmental conservation movement that aims to restore one million hectares of Philippine rainforest using native tree species by year 2020. The Honda group of companies has pledged to rehabilitate 20 hectares of denuded land with 50,000 trees in a span of 10 years. To date, they've already covered 9 hectares with 15,000 newly-planted trees.

This project is also in line with Honda's longtime commitment to leave “Blue Skies for our Children” which follows the global direction to minimize the environmental footprint from Honda's products and business activities.

The Honda group of companies is composed of Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI), Honda Philippines Inc. (HPI), Honda Parts and Manufacturing Corporation (HPMC), and Honda Trading Philippines (HTP).

The Honda Foundation will conduct a series of tree planting activities to rehabilitate the remaining 11 hectares. To take active part of this movement, visit www.hondaphil.com.
