COLLECT THEM.
Shell and Ferrari teamed up with Danish toymaker LEGO to help them celebrate 60 years of passion and performance. What they got was a garage-full of miniature Ferraris that stand no longer than 10 cm each. The collection includes five (5) officially-licensed Ferraris and one (1) Iveco transport truck. The fast five are the 2011 F150° Italia Formula 1 car, 458 Italia, FXX, 1993 F40 Competizione, and the 1959 250 GT Berlinetta SWB.
But what the posters don't show is that there is in fact a 7th Shell LEGO toy set, which, according to collectors, is the rarest set of all. While it doesn't have four wheels, the Shell Ferrari Pit Crew is just as important to the collection. The set is composed of a Ferrari Refueling Engineer, Shell Track Scientist, Ferrari Race Mechanic, Fueling Rig, and Chemistry Lab. Plus, the cardboard flyer Shell gives away with these LEGOs can be folded into a six-car starting grid. However, we don't have the plastic Display Stand Tray that's exclusive to Singapore.
TRIVIA: The Philippines is the 3rd country worldwide to get the Shell LEGO Ferrari Collection in October 26, 2012. The 1st was Hong Kong and Macau (August 1, 2012), followed by Singapore (September 10, 2012).
BUILD THEM.
According to the packet, anyone six years old and above should be able to put together these LEGO toys. But if you want things done neatly, you might have to use a toothpick or an X-ACTO knife to position the tiny stickers in the right place. All in all, the seven (7) toy sets are made up of 292 LEGO pieces. We've taken the time to show you what you get inside each set and what it looks like when built.
The Ferrari 150° Italia (LEGO Set 30190) is their Grand Prix car for the 2011 Formula 1 season. There's an option to build it as Fernando Alonso (#5 and blue helmet) or Felipe Massa (#6 and green helmet).

RACE THEM.
As they come with awesome pull-back action, we had to race all six LEGO Ferraris against each other to see which one goes the furthest. So we whipped out a tape measure and launched each one down the track, otherwise called my living room, and here are the results.

As the lightest car in the bunch, the 250 GT Berlinetta had the best performance, because it tracked straight and ran smooth from every launch. It was followed closely by the F40, FXX, and F150° Italia. Tough promising, the 458 had a lot of wheel spin from the line which hampered its results. And with most of its weight up front, the Truck did nothing more than pull some donuts.
TRIVIA: By the time you collect all seven LEGO toys, you would have spent a grand total of P11,480 for fuel and the toys themselves. That's if you fill up on Shell V-Power.
LEGO Challenge
With a little free time on our hands, we went out to take some “artistic” shots with our LEGO set. Enjoy!
