There was a time when BlueWave along Macapagal Blvd. was THE place to go, before a certain mall around the corner opened. Still, the place has survived thanks to free parking and a handful of good restaurants serving those who don’t want the hassle of finding a pay parking slot and doing a 3K marathon just to eat. And Papa J’s Wiches n’ Wings perfectly fits the bill with their affordable sandwiches and chicken wings as their come-on food. And as the full crew of Kotse.com was at hand, we made sure that we picked from their all-time favorites to give you a hint of what to expect from them.

Wiches - Crabstick (P85)
As you know, quality precedes quantity, but Papa J’s wiches are just overflowing with generous portions of its ingredients from the crabstick to the fresh mushrooms, olives, pineapple tidbits, tomato, cucumber, and lettuce. And for an unbeatable price, who could resist? Other sandwich variants are also available, of course.

Wings - 15pcs (P320)
Yes sir, the price above is correct: only P320 pesos for 15 pieces juicy, tender and HOT wings. That’s only a little over P20 per wing! You also have a say in the hotness level and base flavoring, from the tongue searing nuclear threat, atomic blast, garlic pepper spicy, and Thai fever to the more sedate oriental BBQ and crazy teriyaki. Their pesto-mayo and wasabi-mayo dips perfectly compliment the wings (there’s also a lot of other choices) and I am pretty sure you’ll be asking the waiter for a refill.

Pork Sisig (P160)
Greasy and yummy, that’s how good old sisig is supposed to be made. Our editors, Niky Tamayo and Leslie Sy just wolfed down one platter by themselves. Enough said.

Tuna Sisig (P180)
The healthier alternative to the pork version and is just as good, but it could have used a bit more oil as the tuna’s flakiness is showing. Nevertheless, it’s a good snack to cure some sisig cravings.

Papaitan (P220)
From the name itself, this soup is supposed to be slightly bitter due to the beef innards as its main ingredients. This isn’t the case for their version of this popular Ilocano dish.  Don’t get me wrong; it still tastes good and is very hearty without the bitterness.  I personally like this version but those expecting an authentic rendition might be disappointed.

Fruit Shakes (P50)
On those hot sweaty days, it’s nice to cool down with a cold fresh drink. Papa J’s also serves tall fruit shakes for only P50, a real promo priced drink without compromised size or taste.
