A date with a dolled-up Porsche 911 Carrera S

It's not everyday that you get the chance to go on a date with a supermodel - a voluptuous German one for that matter. So when the opportunity came my way, I could hardly say no. She might be a little wide on the hips, but she is sure to turn heads wherever she goes. Some have warned me that this doll could be a bit too hot too handle. Still, I've heard that she's great in the saddle. Her name is the Porsche 911 Carrera S, and she’s based on the latest 991 chassis.

The wonderful people from PGA Cars Inc. lent me this beauty for a quick drive around Bonifacio Global City (BGC). It was mine for only one hour, and I was told that this one in particular, painted in Anthracite Brown Metallic, was owned by a certain Mr. Robert Coyiuto, Jr. That meant I had to savor every single minute with this 911 and be extra careful when babying it around the city streets.

Vital Statistics

It was also ordered with the optional 7-speed PDK transmission (Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe) which allows it to sprint to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. But because there wasn't enough space for me to verify those numbers - and I wouldn’t dare to try, given the circumstances - I simply opted for a more relaxing drive. It also didn't matter so much, because I was already able to take one out on track at the Porsche World Roadshow a few months back.

Dressed up and ready to go, this Carrera S has been dolled up with a couple of accessories that pumped up its value by a few millions. What Porsche calls an “Aerokit Cup” includes a new GT3-inspired front bumper and rear spoiler. Then, a quick trip to the jewellers gets it a fresh set of sexy 20-inch Carrera Classic wheels and a matching Sport Chrono stopwatch that sits on the dash.

Once you get to know this 911 a bit better, you'll see that she's wearing black leather under her sheet metal - a pair of 14-way Sport adaptive seats to be exact. They've also added a park-assist system just in case you're having trouble backing up.

A Quick Stroll

I could go on and on about its specs, but that's not what this date is all about. So with the keys on hand, I gently drove her out on the street and went on for the ride of my life.

It's an understatement to say that my date for the day is high-maintenance. Besides the regular bathing and polishing, she also needs a healthy dose of fine high-octane gasoline. Luckily, new tech allows her to take gentle sips on relaxing drives - as frugal as 13.8 km/L, they say. And just like any supermodel, the 911 Carrera S also needs constant attention, which she gets quite a lot of every time she goes out in public.

As we went along, I found out that while the accelerator is quite heavy, she doesn't need a lot of throttle input to get her going. And a brisk step on the gas lets out her wild side with a beautiful roar from the flat-six boxer engine. But with so much power on hand, you really have to be gentle, because this one knows how to bite back. I also discerned her disdain for bumps on the road, so you will have to tread carefully on rough ground.

A Chance of a Lifetime
Sadly, the date ended as quickly as it started. But before parting ways, I gave her a long good look from head to toe. She really is a beauty, isn't she? Boys, you have to remember this is not a toy. Consider the 911 as a girlfriend or wife (or even a mistress). The big bank account is sure to get her attention, but it’s the freeflow of attention, care, and love that is sure to make her stay. Those frequent Sunday drives on picturesque winding roads or on the race track are almost a requirement, and that is no simple task. This is a lifelong commitment, if you will.

My day out with the latest Porsche 911 Carrera S felt like a million dollars. Well, it should. This baby costs in the region of P10 million in standard trim; this one in particular, with all its bells and whistles, is reported to fetch quite a bit more. The price tag, however, means nothing if it can make you feel this good.
